Biden in Europe: America is Now “an Embarrassment” on the Global Stage
His boss at least waited until he was president to go on an overseas apology tour, but former Vice President Joe Biden did not even wait to declare his candidacy for the White House before lambasting his home country as “an embarrassment” under Donald Trump. In Europe to attend a NATO defense summit, Biden delivered a long and heartfelt apology for the U.S.’s stance on a number of issues in the age of Trump, telling the gathered delegates that the American people do not stand behind the policies of the administration.
It has been a matter of honor and patriotism for Americans to leave divisive politics at home when traveling abroad, but Biden could not bring himself to abide by that tradition. Instead, he chose the Obama/Kerry route, using his speech as a platform to tell our NATO allies that America was in violation of its commitment to “human decency” under Trump’s leadership. He said that if he were in control of the country, he would bring “civility” and “respect” back to our politics.
“The America I see values basic human decency, not snatching children from their parents or turning our back on refugees at our border. Americans know that’s not right,” Biden said. “The American people understand plainly that this makes us an embarrassment. The American people know, overwhelmingly, that it is not right. That it is not who we are.
“While I cannot speak today as an elected government official who is able to set policy, I can speak as a citizen,” he continued. “I can offer insight into my country. I know we’ve heard a lot today about leadership, but in my experience, leadership only exists if somebody — and others — are with you. Leadership in the absence of people who are with you is not leadership.”
Biden went on to promise the delegates that change was on the way.
“I can assure you,” he said, “that the American people – the ultimate wellspring of power in the United States of America – remain committed to engaging the world with decency and respect.”
We’ll be blunt: Decency and respect did not get our NATO allies to begin putting up their fair share of their own national defense. Decency and respect did not secure the defeat of ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Decency and respect did not bring Kim Jong Un to the negotiating table. Decency and respect did not revamp NAFTA.
For too long, our leaders have hidden utter capitulation to the globalists under a pretty veneer of decency and respect. The time for that was done as of November 9, 2016. The American people that Biden claims to know so well decided we were due for a drastic change in direction – a change that has paid dividends over the last two years. God willing, we will stay the course for another four, and we won’t make the mistake of handing control of our nation over to a bunch of rich Europeans who want to strip the United States for parts. That would be an embarrassment.
