It was bad enough when we learned that on August 26, the Intelligence Community’s inspector general wrote up a memo regarding the so-called Ukraine whistleblower. In that memo, IG Michael Atkinson cast a certain amount of doubt about the veracity of the whistleblower (who remains anonymous to this day). He said the individual – believed to be a CIA employee – “shows some indications of an arguable political bias in favor of a rival political candidate.” This went hand in hand with news reports that say the whistleblower is a registered Democrat.
But all of that was peanuts compared to what we’re now learning about this mystery man. According to testimony Atkinson gave to House Republicans last week, we now know that the whistleblower’s allegiances to the opposition party go beyond political preferences or even bias in favor of a particular 2020 candidate. Indeed, says one person who was privy to the testimony, “The IG said the whistleblower worked or had some type of professional relationship with one of the Democratic candidates.”
This was later confirmed by a second and third person with knowledge of the proceedings.
“All three sources said Atkinson did not identify the Democratic candidate with whom the whistleblower had a connection. It is unclear what the working or professional relationship between the two was,” reports the Washington Examiner.
Well well well. If this didn’t have the stink of a political setup before, it certainly does now. Not only do we now understand that this whistleblower had contact with Adam Schiff’s House committee before any of this became public (a fact that was lied about by Schiff himself), we know that this whistleblower has a political, professional, and quite likely personal reason for coming out against President Donald Trump. One cannot help but recast his report in a different light upon knowing all of this.
Democrats, who have been acting as though the whistleblower’s report means more than the actual (innocuous) transcript of Trump’s call with Ukraine’s Zelensky, will now go in the other direction and claim that the whistleblower’s bias doesn’t matter a whit. After all, we all have the public transcript and can read for ourselves what Trump said. It will be fascinating to watch them change their story overnight.
Beyond that, though, one has to wonder WHICH candidate this individual has a professional relationship with. Or, to put it another way: Is it Joe Biden?
If the answer to that question is yes, then Pelosi’s dreams of impeachment just went right down the toilet.
