Border Patrol is Detaining More Than 1,000 Illegals a Day
The new numbers for Fiscal Year 2018 are out, and they demonstrate beyond the shadow of a doubt just how out-of-control our situation at the border has become. With the Democrats standing firmly in the way of the border protections this country needs to stay viable and safe, illegal immigrants are surging across the border, into detention, and then out into the American wild. Those who have valid asylum claims will take years to process; those who don’t, for the most part, will never be seen again. Until we actually have some serious legislation – the WALL, for instance – to stop this madness, things are only going to get worse.
According to the Southwest Border Migration Report, released this week, Border Patrol officials have been apprehending an average of 1,100 migrants per day for the last year. Unfortunately, that doesn’t even tell the full story, because the figures are ticking upwards. For the last month of the fiscal year – September – Border Patrol agents took nearly 1,400 migrants into custody.
Which shows you that no matter how outrageous the migrant caravan may look, we see more illegal immigrants on a weekly basis, every week, on and on. This is a situation that needs to be resolved – fast.
All total, last year we apprehended 396,579 illegal immigrants, and that’s only counting the ones who did not come through a defined port of entry to make a legitimate claim of asylum. Of that number, 50,036 were unaccompanied minors. Another 107,212 belonged to so-called Family Units.
Meanwhile, even these figures – as bad as they are – do not convey the dire truth about the situation. Many of these immigrants will have children here, thus “anchoring” them to the United States forever. Furthermore, chain migration laws will eventually allow these migrants to be “reunited” with family members still living in their countries of origin. And mind you, this doesn’t even take into account the many illegals who slip past Border Patrol and the vast number of migrants who come here on a temporary visa only to put down roots and stay for as long as they want.
And Democrats want to abolish ICE.
The American people elected Donald Trump largely because he seemed like the only candidate in the race who was serious about finally putting a stop to this slow-motion destruction of the country. Even now, if you take a deep dive into the polls that no one on the left wants to talk about, more people support his view of illegal immigration than the open-border rhetoric coming from the Democrats.
The problem? The Fake News Industry, which is working overtime to present any immigration enforcement as racist, unthinkable, and unworthy of the Statue of Liberty. Until more Americans are convinced to tune out this nonsense and think for themselves, Capitol Hill will never have the will to really do what needs to be done to protect this country.
