Commie Mayor of New York Plans to Ban “Glass and Steel Skyscrapers”
So far, we’ve been lucky enough to avoid that dreaded day when New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio decides that he’s too big for the Big Apple and throws his name into the ring for President. So far, we’ve gotten lucky. Not to say that there aren’t plenty of rubes running for the Democratic nomination who are nearly as bad as he is, but de Blasio really is a Communist nightmare all unto himself. Together with Gov. Andrew Cuomo, they are busy turning the clock back on New York City; it won’t be long before tourists are again second-guessing themselves before stepping foot downtown. And that’s to say nothing of the people who actually live there. Or, given the trend of the last year or two, we should say “used to live there.”
But none of these omens of doom bother de Blasio in the slightest. In fact, he’s ready to roll up his sleeves and bring more destruction to his hometown. In an interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” this week, the birdbrained mayor said that he was eager to put Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal to work in New York.
“We’re actually making the Green New Deal come alive here in New York City,” he said. “It’s three very basic ideas. One, the biggest source of emissions in New York City is buildings. We’re putting clear, strong mandates, the first of any major city on the earth to say to building owners, ‘You gotta clean up your act. You gotta retrofit. You gotta save energy.'”
Right, so instead of watching business owners and entrepreneurs flee your city in horror – instead of looking at that and saying, Hmm, maybe we should do something that will entice them back – de Blasio is going to put the screws to them again. Because after all, what could go wrong if you start coming down on the developers? It’s more important to make sure that low-level criminals and illegal aliens are protected. That’s the key to a shining and glorious New York future, right?
De Blasio told the “Morning Joe” panel that the city was prepared to start levying fines of up to $1 million against building owners who did not bring their emissions into compliance with the city’s new green standards.
Oh! And that’s not all!
“We are going to ban the classic glass and steel skyscrapers which are incredibly inefficient,” he said. “If someone wants to build one of those things they can take a whole lot of steps to make it energy efficient, but we’re not going to allow what we’ve seen in the past.”
Awesome. Get ready for New York 2.0: The land of tiny office buildings made out of hemp. It’s going to be a sight to behold.
No wonder Amazon bailed. Who wouldn’t?
