Crocodile Tears: The Myth of the Bleeding Heart
Liberals and Democrats have taken a prominent place on the national platform even though their ideas are useless, their proposals are ludicrous, and their results are disastrous. Why are these people permitted a place at the table when everything they touch turns to manure? Because they’ve been able to convince others – and perhaps even themselves – that their crocodile tears are real. That they really are bleeding hearts, caring for the disadvantaged with every bone in their bodies. And as long as you appear sincere and caring, Americans are willing to forgive a lot of the nonsense.
But there’s only so much we can forgive, especially when liberals are so unwilling to confront the real problems that plague society. Consider the state of Black America, which has been an ongoing point of concern for liberals and Democrats. In fifty years, what have they managed to actually do? They’ve given plenty of speeches, changed plenty of laws, and written plenty of books, but what have they actually done to help black Americans? Why are inner cities still havens for crime and death? Why are so many blacks still below the poverty line? Why is our educational system still in shambles?
Caring is great. You won’t run into too many people who will tell you that it’s wrong to care about a problem. But at some point, there has to be a reckoning. Eventually, you have to open up your report card and see what’s going on. We are asked to use our lives to make some kind of progress. And it can’t go on forever. There has to be a time frame. How many years do you want your kid to stay in seventh grade? As a parent, you’d be mortified at the thought of it taking any more than one year for your child to move forward.
But when it comes to liberals, we seem to have endless amounts of patience. We keep postponing the report card. Surely things will turn around in the next couple of years. Surely these policies will have their desired effect in another decade. If Republicans would just get out of the way, we could have solved all of these issues a long time ago!
But no, it isn’t Republicans that are keeping these policies from working. It is the simple, ugly fact that these policies suck. If they were merely keeping things from getting better, that would be one thing. But they are actually making things worse, and that’s not okay. And I know America is the land of try, try again, but there comes a point where it’s time to try something else.
That time has come. It’s time for us to take a sober look at the liberal report card on economics, crime, immigration, culture, national security, and society. And if their policies are found wanting, then we need to replace all of that useless caring with some gritty pragmatism. It’s time to graduate.
