Does anyone on the left remember a single thing from the 2016 election? We can only assume that they do not, because they’ve chosen to repeat the mistakes of that infamous year over and over again in the year since. Most specifically, they are still stuck on the idea that if they can just somehow call Donald Trump a racist in just the right way, with just the right evidence, and just the right tone of voice, they will finally be able to turn his supporters against him. Like, it didn’t work the last 692 times, but surely THIS time, even his most deplorable fans will not be able to deny the truth!
Of course, “this time” being the president’s remarks from an immigration meeting on Thursday, where he supposedly asked why the U.S. was bringing in a bunch of people from “shithole countries” like Haiti and El Salvador. This prompted liberals (both in the U.S. and around the world) to temporarily abandon the “Trump is mentally unstable” argument to go back to their old favorite – the “Trump is an incorrigible white supremacist” argument.
Rep. Cedric Richmond, the leader of the Congressional Black Caucus, said that the remarks proved that the president’s campaign slogan was a dogwhistle for racists. “President Trump’s comments are yet another confirmation of his racially insensitive and ignorant views. It also reinforces the concerns that we hear every day, that the President’s slogan Make America Great Again is really code for Make America White Again.”
Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) hopped on the hyperbole train. “As an American, I am ashamed of the president,” he said. “His comments are disappointing, unbelievable, but not surprising. We always knew that President Trump doesn’t like people from certain countries or people or certain colors.”
Don Lemon, whom Trump has often called the dumbest man on television, said, “The president of the United States is racist. A lot of us already knew that.”
Lemon’s CNN colleague Anderson Cooper said, “Perhaps the White House feels the president’s remarks will be well received in some parts of this country, among some parts of the president’s base. But it doesn’t make what he said any less ignorant or any less racist. Not racial. Not racially charged. Racist.”
Go cry some more, liberals.
The president has since denied using this language, but we don’t really care even if he did. In fact, we like him even more, because it proves he hasn’t been suckered in by the politically-correct fairies he’s surrounded with on a daily basis in Washington. He’s still the same Donald Trump that we loved on the campaign trail, still willing to tell the truth even when it isn’t what the bleeding hearts want to hear. It may horrify the elitists in the media and on Capitol Hill but it doesn’t horrify the Americans who are sick to death of PC culture and all of the ugliness it has visited upon this country. And if people don’t like having a president who says this kind of thing, why, we hear El Salvador is really lovely this time of year. Bon voyage.
