Did You Know That Trump Could Worsen Your Depression?
You learn so many fascinating things when you read mainstream liberal garbage like Newsweek. For instance, did you know that many Americans suffer from “seasonal affective disorder” in the winter months? Well, perhaps you did know that, but only through Newsweek would you learn that President Donald Trump could actually make your wintertime depression worse this year!
From the “We Totally Didn’t Just Pull This Out of Our Asses” File:
Often feel down in the cooler months? If the political climate is already stressing you out, your seasonal bout of depression could be worse this year.
As temperatures drop, so does the amount of daylight. Until March 20, there will be more hours of darkness than light in a day for people living in the Northern Hemisphere.
That lack of light is often associated with seasonal affective disorder, but stress also influences the onset and progression of SAD, Dr. Norman Rosenthal tells Newsweek. In the 1980s, Rosenthal was the first to describe the syndrome.
“Light is very important, but so is stress,” he says. “In the middle of the summer, you can burn the midnight oil. But in the winter, it doesn’t feel as easy to rally when you have unexpected stressors appear.”
Could the political atmosphere in the United States be one of those unexpected stressors? “I would say yes. You know, people are worried, then you hear that the president is going to annihilate North Korea,” Rosenthal says. “I think these stressors definitely do register more powerfully.”
That brief mention of Trump and North Korea is the SOLE mention of the president in the entire article, yet that’s how Newsweek chose to angle the piece in the headline. Oh, Trump is so bad he’s going to send millions of us spiraling into a terrible depression this winter! And then when you read the article, you see that it’s mostly about SAD, with that one painfully ham-handed attempt to force politics into the mix. The author manages to get that quote out of Rosenthal, but even he had more respect for his own reputation than to actually say what the article tries (weakly) to prove.
We don’t know why we’re still surprised when we see idiotic crap like this. It’s the culmination of a clickbait mentality combined with the media’s neverending quest to make Americans feel as though they’re living through the END TIMES, thanks to the evil Donald Trump. But still…publications like Newsweek, while they may have always had their problems, used to have SOME basic respect for their readers.
“SAD” just about says it all…
