DOJ: Illegals Committing Twice the Crime of American Citizens
The left would have you believe that illegal immigrants commit no crime, contribute nothing but positive economic growth to America, and can heal cancer with their tears. Then again, they would also have us believe that voter fraud is a myth, polar bears are dying by the tens of thousands, and that there is no downside to unlimited amounts of welfare and abortion, so you have to consider the source. When you trade their fantasyland for the facts, the picture of these issues comes into astounding focus. And that’s when you understand that as much as the Democrats like to talk about illegal immigrants as if they’re God’s gift to America, this is one gift we would be wise to return.
Thankfully, we have an administration now that is doing its best to clear away the cobweb of confusion that the Democrats have been weaving for the last decade or two.
In a statement on Friday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said that a new report confirms that illegal immigrants in Arizona commit twice as much crime as the rest of the state’s population. The report, which is from the Crime Prevention Research Center and based on conviction rates in the state, found that illegal immigrants between the ages of 15 and 35 comprise nearly 8% of the Arizona prison population. This despite the fact that they only comprise 3% of Arizona’s total population.
These were not petty crimes, either. According to John Lott, the author of the report, many of those incarcerated were put behind bars for serious felony offenses. Even more alarming, however, were the stark differences between the rate of crime among illegal immigrants and that among the general populace.
“There appears to be a huge difference between the two groups,” Lott said. “The type of person who goes through the process to legally immigrate in the United States appears to be very law-abiding versus even the U.S.-born population. The reverse is true for undocumented immigrants — they are committing crimes, and more serious crimes.”
Ah, now THAT is an interesting figure, because it gives you a very good idea of why the left is intent on constantly conflating illegal immigrants and legal ones. Have you noticed how the media does that? They make virtually no distinction between the two. If a group is against illegal immigration, the media presents them as “anti-immigration.” In some cases, that’s true, but they are two different subjects. You can be both against immigration AND against illegal immigration, but that should never be taken as a singular position.
The left wants us to believe that illegal immigration is less of a crime and more of a…paperwork error? But that belief is betrayed by statistics that prove that law-abiding immigrants who go through the proper channels actually DO contribute something positive to this country while illegal aliens…not so much. When you conflate the two and confuse the issues, people get, well, confused.
Which is exactly how the Democrats like their voters.
