Elizabeth Warren Calls on Trump’s Cabinet to Remove Him From Office
The Democrats have officially crossed over from monstrously deranged to outright treasonous. It’s one thing to hear Maxine Waters and various low-level Democrats call for the president’s impeachment; it’s another to hear a senior senator like Elizabeth Warren call on Trump’s Cabinet to use a constitutional loophole to throw the democratically-elected president out of office.
Talk of the 25th Amendment is best reserved for the looniest of the loony fringe websites; to hear it come out of the mouth of someone who sees herself as Washington’s greatest progressive is something else. It shows you just how detached from reality these people are and how absolutely desperate they’ve become.
“If senior administration officials think the President of the United States is not able to do his job, then they should invoke the 25th Amendment,” Warren said in an interview with CNN. “The Constitution provides for a procedure whenever the Vice President and senior officials think the President can’t do his job. It does not provide that senior officials go around the President — take documents off his desk, write anonymous op-eds. Every one of these officials have sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States. It’s time for them to do their job.”
Warren, of course, was playing off the New York Times op-ed heard ‘round the world, written by a so-called “senior official” in the Trump administration who claimed that he was part of the “Resistance” against the president. The writer, clearly looking for some kind of anonymous glory, received rare bipartisan condemnation from just about everyone who hasn’t completely lost their minds in the Trump Era. Even Democrats could see that having a NeverTrump “hero” in the administration thwarting Trump’s agenda whenever it differed from his own was a recipe for disaster. As their Dear Leader said many a time: Elections have consequences. It’s not up to a rogue band of sinister forces to decide they don’t like what the American people decided.
Sadly, Warren came to the wrong conclusions about what should be done about it. A sane observer would conclude that Trump needs to weed out these traitors and cleanse the administration of people who don’t agree with the MAGA agenda. Or, if not “agree,” precisely, at least understand that it is their sworn duty to carry out the president’s wishes or resign.
Instead, Warren believes that the duty of those who work for Trump is to conspire against him and use a constitutional amendment designed to be used only in the most dire emergencies. Ratified in the wake of JFK’s assassination, the 25th Amendment was written to provide a smooth transition of power in the event the president becomes completely incapacitated.
It was not designed to give the Democrats a cheap way to nullify the results of an election.
But hey, maybe things were different back on the Great Buffalo Plains where Warren’s ancestors roamed…
