Email Proves That Hillary Manipulated Benghazi Hearings
It’s been crystal-clear for a long time that Hillary Clinton was indeed guilty of using a private email system at the State Department, guilty of destroying evidence, guilty of mishandling classified information, and guilty of lying to cover it all up.
But until recently, we could only speculate on the “why” of it all. Sure, she’s arrogant. Sure, she’s naturally prone to secrecy. Sure, she’s entitled enough to think she’s above the law. But those only explained her justifications. She could use those to do any of a million things. She doesn’t do a million things; she did this thing. Why?
We still don’t necessarily have the answer to that question, but we’re getting closer with every subsequent public email release. There are quite a few messages on that server that she surely wishes were not in the hands of the American people.
Another one of those messages was released on Tuesday as a result of a Freedom of Information Act request, this one filed by Citizens United. The email was sent by Clinton aide Phillippe Reines to Chelsea Clinton on January 23, 2013, the day of the first congressional Benghazi hearings. In it, Reines assures Chelsea that Foreign Relations Committee Chair Robert Menendez is on their side.
“We wired it that Menendez would provide an opportunity to address two topics we needed to debunk (her actions/whereabouts on 9/11, and these emails from Chris Stevens about moving locations),” Reines wrote.
As Fox News pointed out, Menendez dutifully played ball:
Right out of the gate, the first hearing question from Menendez that day covered both topics referenced by Reines.
Menendez asked for Clinton’s “insights on the decision-making process regarding the location of the Mission.” The senator added, “Can you also in your response, you touched upon it in your opening statement, but what actions were you and your staff taking the night of September 11 and into September 12?”
What a trooper.
Citizens United released a statement highlighting the email.
“This email chain provides a rare behind the scenes look at which Benghazi-related issues the Clinton camp had concerns about going into Secretary Clinton’s January 2013 testimony on Capitol Hill, and what they had apparently plotted out beforehand with a Democrat committee member to deal with those concerns,” the group wrote.
According to Fox News, neither the Clinton campaign nor Menendez could come up with a response to their inquiries.
They needn’t bother. Hillary’s emails speak for themselves.
