Feds Missed Terrorist’s Social Media Postings
Tashfeen Malik, one half of the husband and wife team that slaughtered 14 people in San Bernardino last month, wasn’t exactly trying to hide her hatred for America. According to new reports, Malik’s social media history was peppered with postings that supported Islamic terror and indicated that she dreamed of joining the cause.
But despite the fact that she went through three federal security screenings on her way to getting a fiancé visa, none of the agencies ever bothered to look through her accounts. And it wasn’t just a matter of negligence. The Department of Homeland Security actually has in place a policy that prevents agents from looking into social media when screening for these visas.
It hasn’t yet been revealed what exactly Malik wrote on social media. Doubtless, federal authorities are working overtime to make sure these posts never see the light of day.
“Had the authorities found the posts years ago, they might have kept her out of the country. But immigration officials do not routinely review social media as part of their background checks, and there is a debate inside the Department of Homeland Security over whether it is even appropriate to do so,” wrote the New York Times.
In fact, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson actually went out of his way to protect a secret Obama policy that prohibits officials from looking into the social media accounts of these applicants.
So that makes you wonder, what exactly are these agencies doing when they screen people trying to come into the United States? Are they just trying to make sure they aren’t covert Republicans?
One can only imagine what it looked like when federal agents interviewed Tashfeen Malik – if indeed such an interview ever took place.
Feds: So, Tashfeen, Islam is pretty awesome, huh?
Tashfeen: Praise be to the prophet.
Feds: Say, we hate to ask, but you would never support terrorism, would you?
Tashfeen: Everything serves Allah.
Feds: You know what, I’m going to mark that down as a “no.”
Tashfeen: I am terrorist.
Feds: Bah, I wrote it in pen.
What the hell the FBI was talking about in the first day or two of this case? You remember when they were out there saying that some of this didn’t fit with a terrorism scenario? Were they skeptical because the killers were Islamic? Have we gone so far down the politically correct road in this country that being a Muslim is actually seen as evidence against terrorism?
Any politician who is still out there clamoring for Syrian refugees to be let in this country should just resign and save us the trouble of having to vote them out of office. We’ve now seen that our security agencies are simply not ready for the challenges of vetting these Islamic radicals, and we can’t afford to lose any more American lives in service of Obama’s crazy agenda.
