Feminists Stray Further and Further From Reality
Is it time for conservatives to openly declare war on feminism yet? A movement that started with noble intentions has now turned into one of the most frivolous, nonsensical phenomenons in mainstream American politics. Yesterday’s feminists were concerned with things that matter: violent oppression of women in third-world countries, suffrage, domestic violence, and real income disparities. They wanted equal treatment under the law and they got it.
What is the concern of today’s feminist? Categories on Jeopardy.
That’s right. Hundreds of “social justice warriors” have taken to social media to decry a category on the September 29th edition of the long-running game show. Called “What Women Want,” the category included questions (well, answers) like “Some help around the house; would it kill you to get out the Bissel Bagless canister one of these every once in a while?” The answer, of course, being a vacuum cleaner. Please remember to say your answer in the form of a question.
The category inspired actress Sophia Bush to take to her Twitter. “For a smart show, you just got srsly stupid.” She was only the most visible of many online feminists who thought that something as insignificant as a Jeopardy category was the most offensive thing they’d seen that day. Perhaps these feminists missed the news out of Mogadishu that week, where a Somali woman was buried up to her neck and stoned to death for secretly marrying more than one man. No, clearly some old-fashioned Jeopardy questions are the real problem.
Sometimes that kind of argument can be tiresome. No one likes to be reminded that there are “starving people in Africa” when they complain about something their boss did that day. It’s okay to focus on problems that aren’t necessarily the worst in the world. But feminists have lost all perspective on Western life. Women in America are treated better than any women in the history of the world, yet these militant feminists can’t acknowledge that fact. I mean, what else would they do with their time?
Feminism and Liberalism
Conservatives – especially politicians – need to make it clear that today’s feminism is just another wing of America-destroying liberalism. It seeks to demonize motherhood, feminize men, celebrate abortion, and embrace victimhood. All four of these objectives have serious consequences for the country, all of which we’ve seen ample evidence of. It would not be an understatement to say that feminism is one of the most potent threats to the American way of life.
Unfortunately, Republicans don’t want to touch the issue. Already under attack for the manufactured “War on Women,” they’re doing everything they can to mount a defense. It’s too late for that. You can’t win against these feminists by fighting under their pre-determined rules and definitions. You only stand a chance by presenting the truth. And that’s something far too few politicians on either side of the aisle are ever willing to do.
