Former NSA Analyst: No Way the DNC was Hacked by Russians…or Anyone Else
Is the U.S. intelligence community hiding the truth of the DNC hacks from the President of the United States and the American people? That’s the assertion made by former National Security Agency analyst William Binney who, together with his colleagues in the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity group, claim that there is actually no evidence that the DNC was hacked at all.
In fact, Binney said in interviews with RT America, all of the available tests show that it would have been impossible for an outside hack to download the “hacked” information in the time allotted. His group contends that the leak could have only occurred locally, and that someone had to have had direct access to the emails to abscond with the amount of information they did.
“It was very clear it was a local download, because of the speeds and all,” Binney told RT. He said that he would be willing to take a less-conspiratorial view of the evidence…except for the inconvenient fact that the intelligence community refused to provide any. “So far, they’ve produced nothing.”
Binney met with RT on the same day he met with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a meeting that reportedly occurred at the behest of President Trump himself. One would imagine that if the CIA were holding on to some undisclosed evidence proving that the DNC servers were hacked remotely, Pompeo would have either shown it to Binney or to the president, thus nullifying the purpose of the meeting. Since neither scenario unfolded, it gives a certain amount of credence to what Binney is arguing. With the right kind of evidence – evidence the NSA would surely have possession of if it exists – they could easily disprove his claims.
So why don’t they?
“They need to put up or shut up,” said Binney. He told RT that he refused to buy into the official story until the intelligence community provided evidence to support their case. “And that’s basically what their situation is. They have zero evidence.”
The nation’s top intelligence agencies, he said ominously, “know a lot more than they’re telling the president.”
Publicly, at least, Pompeo appears to have been unmoved by his meeting with the NSA veteran. A CIA spokesman said in a statement: “The Director stands by and has always stood by the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment entitled: Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent U.S. Elections.”
Democrats and the liberal media were alarmed that Pompeo would even meet with Binney in the first place, which gives you an idea of how much political capital they have wrapped up in this whole Russia story. Why shouldn’t the CIA director keep his mind open to alternative theories? If there are gaps in the facts, we need to chase down every possible lead before we hold a country accountable for something they didn’t do, no? We have no doubt that Putin wanted to inject a little bit of mayhem into our elections, but we’ve yet to see one scrap of evidence that Moscow was behind the leak of these emails. Maybe they were.
But if they weren’t – if this was an inside job – then someone is keeping a very tight lid on some very explosive secrets.
