Franklin Graham: Beware, Our Country is “Under Attack From Within”
In a Veterans Day post on Facebook, evangelical leader Franklin Graham warned Christians to be aware that while we should take a moment to honor the veterans who have fought to preserve American freedom overseas, we should not be confused about the threats facing our country today – threats that originate a lot closer to home.
“Today we honor all of our military veterans who have served to defend the freedoms of this nation, and the blood that has been shed for us and for future generations,” Graham said. “We owe them a great debt.”
The reverend continued: “It seems our nation is under attack—attack from within, from socialists who want to bring anarchy to our streets. The hard-won freedoms that we have enjoyed in America are very much at stake. Pray for the President, our Commander-in-Chief, as he leads the nation during these turbulent times, that God would give him wisdom, grace, and understanding for times such as these.”
In a recent interview with Newsmax TV, Graham said that he fears that a Biden administration could bring renewed government attacks on Christian institutions and businesses of the type that became common during the Obama years.
“I think we will see these kind of attacks from the left against Christian businesses, Christian organizations, and that will happen,” he said. “I think they will try to come after churches, attack churches, attack exempt organizations doing humanitarian work, social work throughout the country. Some of the best work in the country are the nonprofits that are working in the inner cities and throughout the country, trying to help relieve some of the problems we have in society. And they’ll want to tax them and try to close them down.”
Trump’s attitude, his personal history, and his willingness to use brash language when addressing his political enemies led some to question his Christian bona fides. But leaving aside the man’s personal faith, which is really no one’s business but his own, there can be no question that he was a fierce defender of Christian America – perhaps the greatest friend the religion has ever had in the White House. This is the Trump that evangelicals saw when they voted for him the first time and it was why they came out in droves to support him for reelection.
Christians know that Biden will have much different plans when it comes to religious freedom. And those plans, judging by what came out of the last administration he was a part of, will not be pretty.
