GOP to State Department: Fire Patrick Kennedy
Republicans want the State Department to give Undersecretary for Management Patrick Kennedy the ol’ heave-ho after FBI documents showed that he tried to negotiate a “quid pro quo” with the Bureau in exchange for some helpful classification adjustments.
According to the latest batch of documents from the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, Kennedy offered FBI officials some extra slots overseas if they would downgrade the classification markings on one of Hillary’s emails. One FBI agent said Kennedy tried to “influence” the Bureau’s decision after being rejected the first time.
Speaking at a rally in Green Bay, Donald Trump said there was no end to what the Democrats would do to hold onto power.
“This is one of the great miscarriages of justice in the history of our country,” he said. He told the crowd that the State Department was “trying to cover up Hillary’s crimes of sending classified information on a server our enemies could easily access.”
In the House of Representatives, Reps. Jason Chaffetz and Devin Nunes released a statement condemning Kennedy’s actions.
“Someone who would try to get classification markings doctored should not continue serving in the State Department or retain access to classified information,” the congressmen wrote. “Therefore, President Obama and Secretary Kerry should immediately remove Under Secretary Kennedy pending a full investigation.”
Florida Senator Marco Rubio released a statement of his own, also calling on Obama to do the right thing.
“The fact that Under Secretary Kennedy allegedly ‘pressured’ the FBI to change the classification of an email to benefit Secretary Clinton as part of a ‘quid pro quo’ after her behavior came to light is alarming, and a sign of just how corrupt the State Department became under her tenure,” Rubio said. “Kennedy should be removed from his position immediately until a real investigation is completed.”
Yeah, well, what are the chances of that happening?
Of course, the Democrats will be more than happy to throw anyone under the bus if it means shielding Hillary, so who knows? The only one who won’t take the fall for her is Obama, so unless we can find the smoking gun that proves Hillary’s involvement in this corruption, they’ll keep moving the pieces around until Republicans tire of the game.
Or…we could put an end to all of this in about three short weeks.
