Parkland, FL shooting survivor and left-wing brat David Hogg is back again, this time joining a group called USA Latinx fight against Sen. Ted Cruz in Texas.
Cruz is embroiled in a shockingly tight race with out-of-nowhere Democrat Beto O’Rourke, and he has just asked President Donald Trump to help him campaign in the fall. But Hogg and his activist buddies want to remind Texans that it wasn’t very long ago that Cruz and Trump didn’t have the nicest things to say about each other. To do that, they are raising thousands of dollars to create a mobile billboard that will display some of the quotes Trump said about Cruz during the 2016 Republican primaries. And as anyone who remembers that part of the race can tell you, the quotes aren’t always so pretty.
“Why would the people of Texas support Ted Cruz when he has accomplished absolutely nothing for them?” Trump once said
“He is another all talk, no action pol!” he said in another quote that USA Latinx plans to highlight.
On the surface, this seems like a clever campaign plan, but we kinda doubt it will be very effective. It’s a little like the Hogg-organized March for Our Lives. Yeah, it got a lot of people out on the streets and it engaged celebrities and it got a TON of media coverage…but did it actually make any difference? No, really, did it? We suppose a few private companies decided to change the way they handled gun sales, but the impact certainly wasn’t obvious on Capitol Hill, unless we missed some stark anti-gun legislation that passed this year. It was ultimately all sound and fury.
This will probably be much the same because voters understand what Trump is all about. When he’s in a fight, there’s no holding him back. He goes for the jugular. When he’s on your side, you’re his best friend. It doesn’t matter what Trump said about Cruz during their bruising primary battle because it was just that: a battle. We’re pretty sure the majority of Americans understand that. We’re pretty sure Texans get it.
