Hillary Blasts Trump: “Why Didn’t He Stand Up For Our Country?”
In a Q&A session at OZY Fest 2018 in New York City this weekend, Hillary Clinton was back to her favorite script, bashing this administration and the president who soundly and shockingly defeated her in November 2016. In her remarks, Clinton – who is the biggest beneficiary of the claim that Russian meddling in the election actually had some effect on the outcome – accused Trump of betraying his country by cozying up to Vladimir Putin.
“This was a very broad and unfortunately successful cyberattack on our electoral system,” Clinton said.
Pause the tape.
No, this was not a successful cyberattack on our “electoral system.” This is something that Clinton, the Democrats, the media, and even some Republicans continually get wrong. While there is evidence to suggest that Russian hackers were trying to penetrate the voter rolls for information, there is no evidence at present that they were successful in doing so.
What they WERE successful in doing was hacking the Democratic National Committee, which is a private organization that has nothing to do with our “electoral system.” This needs to be made clear as often as possible, because it is in the fallacy that Russia attacked our “democracy” that we get statements like, “This was an act of war.” It wasn’t. It was an act of political espionage. Not great, but not the 9/11-scale event that many Trump critics are making it out to be.
Of course, you have to present it that way if you want to portray a narrative that insinuates that Russia cost Hillary the election and that Trump is now a foreign agent working for Putin.
“We also know they have been probing and gathering information about critical infrastructure,” she continued. “They’re still looking for ways to steal information about voter registration. The Russians are still at it. They’re using agents and bots and all kinds of means of trying to create dissension. We have to reject that.”
Pause again. This time just to point out the obvious fact that Hillary Clinton does not have top security clearance and is not being briefed on the latest foreign intelligence. Her remarks are, at best, based on her second-hand guesses.
“The great mystery is why the President hasn’t spoken up for our country,” she said. “Why didn’t he stand up for our country? In this case it doesn’t seem like our president cares. He’s trying to be friends with Putin for reasons we are all trying to figure out.”
Um, no, some of us figured it out a long time ago by simply listening to the president explain it. As he’s said a million times, it’s far better to get along with Russia than to go to war with them. That’s apparently something you haven’t figured out, Mrs. Clinton.
Furthermore, if the Russian hack of the DNC and the release of a bunch of Democrat internal emails is the worst this nation has done to America…well, it’s not difficult to understand why Trump doesn’t care that much. That’s not to forgive, forget, or make light of the situation; but let’s be serious – this wasn’t nearly the earth-shattering event that Clinton & Friends have been making it out to be for the last two years. It just wasn’t.
The sanctions are still in place, the White House has taken extraordinary measures to protect the 2018 elections, and Trump has been tougher on Russia than Obama ever thought of being. It’s time to stop peddling the hysteria and start looking at the facts.
For Hillary, that should start with fact #1: You lost…and it didn’t have a thing to do with Russia.
