Hillary Clinton is a Security Risk We Cannot Take
The political world was rocked Friday by a letter from FBI Director James Comey. Comey told lawmakers that while his agents were investigating Anthony Weiner for his relationship with a 15-year-old North Carolina girl, they came across emails pertinent to the Hillary Clinton email scandal, thus re-opening the inquiry into her use of a private server and her handling of classified material.
Her aides are calling the news a “distraction.” Hillary Clinton herself criticized Comey and waved away the obvious disaster, saying that voters “made up their minds about the emails” long ago.
Well, minds can be changed. And the fact that the FBI is now looking into the case again could certainly be enough to do that, even if we get no further information before election day. Certainly, some of the millions of people who have already cast their ballots probably wish they had waited.
But those people should have been a little smarter about their vote to begin with.
Whether or not you agree with the Trump supporters who chant “lock her up” at rallies around the country, there’s no question that Hillary represents a serious security risk. There is no publicly-released evidence showing that any classified material on her private server found its way into the hands of foreign hackers, but we cannot know for sure. And with this new revelation, we now know beyond dispute that Weiner – who does not have security clearance – had access to tens of thousands of emails between Clinton and his wife, Huma Abedin. That in itself is enough to disqualify Hillary from the presidency.
Hackers gained access to Democratic National Committee servers. They gained access to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s inbox. Is it so much of a stretch to imagine that they found their way into Clinton’s Chappaqua server? Come on.
Hillary’s people have been desperately trying to put the focus of all this on Russia, and that’s fine. Maybe it was Russia. But do we want to elect a president who gave the Russians an opening into classified national security information? Do we want a president who will be susceptible to international blackmail attempts? For all we know, Moscow is already sitting on information that could put Hillary at the mercy of a foreign government. It cannot be overstated how dangerous this is.
We can’t take the chance. To quote Michelle Obama: “Enough is enough.”
