Ilhan Omar and CAIR Are Going After the Terror Watchlist
It pains us to make snide, secretive, conspiratorial remarks about Rep. Ilhan Omar, one of the first Muslim women to be elected to Congress. It sounds almost stupid to start whispering questions about “whose side is she on?” Of course, she’s a proud American. Of course, she is not a covert agent for Islamists who want to bring Sharia law to this country. How ridiculous can you get?
But what else can you think when she gives you so much ammunition? She’s either exactly the darkest possible manifestation of those fears, or she is a masterful troll whose only purpose in Congress is to inflame conservatives. If it’s the latter, we’ve got to give her credit: She’s damn good at her job. Then again, what kind of a job is that? If it’s the former, well, let’s hope that the voters of Minnesota figure it out before the next election.
Just look at this woman’s track record. She’s only been in Washington for six months, and she’s already made at least three blatantly anti-Semitic remarks. That has to be a modern-day record. Then there was her astoundingly dismissive remark about 9/11 being “something some people did.” To her view, the real victims of that fateful day where American Muslims who came under stricter suspicion. Then there is her constant (constant) tendency to take sides against America whenever possible. With Venezuela, with Iran, with anyone who crawls out of the totalitarian rogue’s gallery that comprises our enemies. As long as they hate Trump and the EVIL U.S. CAPITALIST SCUM like she does, they’re good people.
And now she’s teaming up with the Islamists at CAIR to take aim at the U.S. terror watch list. With the Muslim organization and ten other House Democrats, she’s written a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to complain about the administration sharing the watchlist with foreign governments.
“In our oversight role as Members of Congress, we are entitled to information as to which countries receive this sensitive and classified information about American citizens, many of whom have never been charged, arrested, or convicted of a crime,” the lawmakers wrote. “It is unacceptable for U.S. resources to contribute to the brutal repression of political dissidents abroad.”
Not exactly sure how that’s accomplished through the sharing of a watchlist, but we’re sure it makes sense in the eyes of Democrats and Islam-focused activists who think any Muslim accused of terrorism is the victim of a racist conspiracy.
“It is dangerous enough that the federal government keeps a secret watchlist of more than one million people, almost all of whom are Muslim, and treats these Muslims like second class citizens,” Omar wrote, quoting the head of CAIR. “The danger, however, increases exponentially when this watchlist is shared with tyrannical regimes all across the world.”
Sorry, no. The danger comes from forgetting 9/11 and pretending as though there aren’t Islamic extremists walking in our midst, just waiting for the slightest opportunity to slip through the cracks. It’s too bad Minnesota chose a congresswoman who thinks otherwise. Actually, it’s a national outrage.
