Ilhan Omar: I’m Here to Clear Up “Ignorance” of Republican Voters
She’s blamed the U.S. for the situation in Venezuela. She’s said that the only real important thing about 9/11 (some people did some things) was how it affected Muslims. She’s made multiple anti-Semitic remarks about the country’s support for Israel. And now, having gone almost a week without saying something un-American and grotesque, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is back with another insult. This time around, she’s telling a podcast that “ignorance” pervades much of the nation.
Yes, like those parts that sent her to Congress.
In a conversation with podcaster John Nichols, Omar was praised for standing up for refugees and immigrants from Somalia – her kind of people, in other words.
“Suddenly you’re elected, and you had this teaching moment,” Nichols said. “It strikes me that, in watching you, you are conscious of teaching moments and of that opportunity to say something that might cause people to think differently about what’s going on.”
Oh yes, this country has learned quite a lot from Ilhan Omar. We’ll give her that.
“I think people have a misconception about refugees and, and the process they go through to come to the United States,” she said. “They certainly have been misinformed about the process of resettlement as well. And the Republicans are really good at misinformation and sort of really reorganizing facts to sort of paint a picture that really eventually is not rooted in fact. We had a person who was running for governor, and he kept talking about ending the resettlement program and making sure that that that wasn’t going to happen.”
After learnin’ us real good about the refugee resettlement process, Omar continued: “And so it is not that they might not be knowledgeable about this, but they use it as a tool to stir up hate and division. And ignorance really is pervasive in many parts of, of this country. And as someone who was raised by educators, I really like to inform people about things that they might be ignorant to, willingly or unwillingly.”
Uh-huh.
Well, like we said, Omar has done a very nice job educating us about the Islamic agenda as it pertains to American politics. The hundreds of Jewish protesters who were calling for her ousting this week in New York City are doubtlessly grateful for that education. Perhaps the next time bleeding-heart Democrats in Omar’s home district want to follow their consciences instead of their reasoning faculties, they’ll remember this woman and the blight of hatred she’s brought to Washington. If that is the kind of “ignorance” that Omar is erasing, we’d say it’s all to the good.
