Iran is Now Toying With Us
The Obama legacy is one written in failure, embarrassment, and a casual disregard for the Constitution. But even if President Obama had ushered in a new golden age for America, his legacy would be irreparably tarnished by the Iranian nuclear agreement. In one fell swoop, this administration endangered our Israeli allies, enriched the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, and put planet Earth on a collision course with obliteration. The greatest economy in history couldn’t make up for this blunder.
You might have thought that Tehran’s leaders would be eager to keep a low profile for a while and silently enjoy their mind-boggling intellectual victory over the West. But a tiger can’t change its stripes, and Islamic radicals will do what Islamic radicals will do. Besides, they’ve seen weakness in the White House. They’re more afraid of their citizens accusing them of cozying up to Washington than they are of America. And given the circumstances, their priorities are probably justified.
Instead of letting their colossal win speak for itself, Iran seems to be daring the Obama administration to rescind the deal. This month, the dictatorship put two more Americans in prison on ridiculous charges of espionage. They join the three Americans already being held captive under equally suspect charges. Americans Obama couldn’t be bothered to advocate for in these negotiations.
Not only that, but the nation’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, is back on his “Death to America” tour, encouraging the chants even as he explains to Americans that the phrase is just a harmless political taunt. The insane part? America’s “journalists” actually but this line of garbage and pass it on to readers at home! Once in a while, you have to wonder if life under state-controlled media would be appreciably different from what we have now.
The press here in the States – the “free” press, supposedly – has crucified congressional Republicans who dare to oppose this deal. More than one liberal writer had the audacity to use the word “treason” in conjunction with the open letter 50+ congressmen sent to Iran. And when John Boehner invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress, you would have thought we were witnessing an unprecedented political crime.
If there was such a crime, though, it was committed by the president these liberals are so desperate to protect. And this wasn’t a crime that increased gridlock or disrespected the House of Representatives or whatever grave sins conservatives are supposed to feel guilty about. This was a crime that could very well bring about the worst tragedies we have even seen inflicted upon humanity.
And Iran, meanwhile, is laughing all the way to the bank.
