Jim Acosta May Be the Most Embarrassing Reporter of All Time
We’re not sure what kind of award CNN’s Jim Acosta is aiming for, but the one he’s most likely to receive is Most Embarrassing White House Correspondent of All Time. And if no one is giving out that award, we’d be happy to make up a trophy ourselves.
Acosta’s constant need to draw attention to himself, his addiction to virtue signaling, and his belief that he is engaged in some sort of personal feud with President Trump is beyond cringeworthy. You could make a sitcom about it and it would compete with the hardest-to-watch episodes of NBC’s The Office. Even Michael Scott had a little bit of dignity sometimes.
At President Trump’s press conference on Wednesday, Acosta did it again. After Trump answered several questions in a row about Brett Kavanaugh and the accusers, the president called on Acosta. That he still gives this fool the opportunity to speak is a miracle in itself, and perhaps a sign that Trump secretly enjoys watching Acosta embarrass himself on live television. True to form, the first words out of Acosta’s mouth shamed himself, his network, and his entire family lineage going back to the Middle Ages.
“Thank you very much,” Acosta said. “If you don’t mind, after I’m finished, if one of our female colleagues could go after me, that would be great.”
Acosta, putting the fine touches on this shameful display of white-knightery, named a few of the female reporters in the room, including Hallie Jackson of NBC.
Trump frowned and asked Acosta to explain what the hell he was talking about.
“I think it would be great if a female reporter would ask you a question about this issue,” Acosta said. “So if you don’t mind…”
Trump shook his head, unable to hide his disgust for this gruesome scene. “I wouldn’t mind that at all,” he said. “Wouldn’t make any difference to me.”
We realize this would have been poor presidential etiquette and it would have kept the media outraged for days, but we would have fallen out of our chairs in glorious appreciation if Trump had simply said, “You know, Jim, Hallie’s still not going to sleep with you.”
At the very least, he should have stolen Acosta’s question and given it to Hallie Jackson instead.
CNN, there are very few moments in your broadcasting day that aren’t filled with intensely fake news, but you could recover at least some of your reputation by taking this idiot off the air. He’s just…that bad.
