Kansas University Offers Course in the “Extreme Right”
Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas is offering students a course called Politics of the 1960s to Now. If you signed up for this course hoping for a general, unbiased overview of America’s political movements of the last 55 years, you would be sorely disappointed. According to Campus Reform, the course has less to do with a survey of history and more to do with the professor’s political brainwashing.
The college watchdogs got a copy of the curriculum, devised by Professor Chris Hamilton. In it, one can quickly see where Hamilton falls on the political spectrum. According to the curriculum, students can expect to learn that people like Senator Ted Cruz and Ron Paul are determined to erase civil rights protections for minorities, eliminate the federal government, and propagate a “New White Nationalist movement.”
According to one student who talked to Campus Reform under the guise of anonymity, the class made for a hostile environment. “It is completely outrageous that the moment I walk into his class I feel like he is trying to call me a racist or a bigot because I am a conservative,” the student said.
Of course, liberals consistently deny that there’s any such thing as a left-wing bent to American university academics. Just like they deny there is any such bias inherent in our mass media. But show me the last time a public university offered a course that slammed Democrats like Barack Obama as Communists trying to turn America into a lawless land of racial strife and federal dominance. Any professor who proposed such a course would be hung out to dry. We’re talking about an academic landscape where merely posting an American flag on the wall is considered controversial and contrary to “diversity.”
It’s no wonder liberals feel that way. The further they stray from the philosophy that built this country from the ground up, the harder it is for them to live in America without constantly gnashing their teeth. When you believe that the federal government owes you everything but the kitchen sink, it’s hard to square your thinking with the tenets of the Founding Fathers. When you believe that Christianity is responsible for all the ills of the world, it’s hard to understand that some people still believe that the United States owes its success to the guiding hand of God. When you believe that America is rotten at the core, and you associate exclusively with others who believe the same, you find it increasingly difficult to believe that anyone might feel differently.
Patriotism, freedom, and capitalism have become dirty words to the left. You may as well substitute them with racism, sexism, and white supremacy. To them, it’s all the same. Even with a black man in the White House and a woman poised as the frontrunner for 2016, they insist that America is still just as backwards and evil as it was when men were in chains. Not content with spewing this ideology in newspaper columns and television news bites, they are teaching it to our young in their college classrooms.
