LAWSUIT: Democrat State Parties Illegally Funded Hillary’s Campaign
Attorney Dan Backer just filed a bombshell lawsuit against Democratic National Committee state chapters in at least 40 states, accusing them of illegally funneling $84 million into the 2016 presidential campaign of one, Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In the federal suit, Backer says that state parties were attracting huge individual donors who knew damn well that they weren’t giving hundreds of thousands of dollars for local Joe Blow Democrat to win a seat in the state Senate. They were donating to Clinton and circumnavigating the finance laws that would have limited their personal contributions to her campaign.
“You had individuals giving $300,000,” Backer told the Las Vegas Review Journal. “They’re not doing it because they care about Nevada’s or Arkansas’ state party. They’re doing it to curry favor with and buy influence with Hillary Clinton.”
As the Democrats do whenever their illegal wrongdoing comes to light, various spokespeople claimed this was merely a publicity stunt engineered to distract from the problems plaguing the Republican Party. Apparently dominating Democrats in congressional polls, sitting atop one of the greatest economic boom periods in decades, and supporting a president on the verge of making one of the greatest peace deals of all time are things that the public needs to be distracted from.
Backer is a lawyer with the Committee to Defend the President, which originally filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission in December asking them to take a look at the DNC’s lawbreaking. When the FEC failed to act before the deadline, however, Backer was left with no choice but to file the lawsuit.
We can’t necessarily speculate on the legitimacy of the lawsuit without seeing all of the facts at Backer’s disposal, but his complaint does track with what we already know about Hillary’s campaign. We know, thanks to former Acting DNC Chairman Donna Brazile, that the Democratic National Committee was little more than a shell organization in the leadup to the 2016 campaign. Clinton, seeing the shape that the DNC was in financially, agreed to essentially pay off the organization’s debts. In exchange, the DNC essentially became nothing more than an extension of the campaign itself. It would not take a leap of any particular imagination to think that this arrangement extended to all of the state party chapters as well.
And who, really, would be surprised? The Clintons are nothing if they are not the most corrupt, criminal political family to have ever darkened Washington’s doorstep…and that’s saying something. Hillary was willing to do anything and everything it took to become president; breaking election finance laws – why, that’s just another day at the office.
Two years later, the chant remains relevant: Lock. Her. Up.
