Limbaugh Offers Democrats an Amnesty Deal They’ll Never Accept
You’ve heard of giving someone an offer they can’t refuse? Well, on Fox News Sunday, radio icon Rush Limbaugh gave Democrats the spiritual opposite of that old Godfather invitation: An offer they’ll never accept.
“I would be willing right here to support an effort to grant permanent citizenship to whatever number of illegal immigrants there are in the country tomorrow if you will make as part of the deal they can’t vote for 15 to 25 years,” he told host Chris Wallace. “And if people agree to that, I’ll grant them amnesty.”
Liberal bloggers at places like Salon immediately took Rush’s brilliant offer out of context. RUSH ADMITS THAT OPPOSITION TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS ALL ABOUT VOTING, they wrote in a startlingly deceptive headline. No, no, you idiots. That’s exactly what Rush was saying: For Democrats, protecting illegal immigrants and giving them citizenship – THAT’S all about voting. And he gave them an offer to prove it: If it’s NOT about voting, accept these terms. And we guarantee you that if Trump were to make the same offer, the Democrats wouldn’t consider it for a second.
As Rush said, the Democrats support illegal immigration because they need a “permanent underclass that’s dependent on the government for their survival.” That’s all it is. That’s the whole ballgame. If there was an influx of illegal immigrants who were culturally and politically conservative, who were known to make their own way in life and contribute massively to their own financial survival…who were, at the end of the day, Republicans-in-waiting, there is no CHANCE that Democrats would be sticking their neck out for them. Quite the contrary, they would be the ones calling for a border wall. This is all about politics when it comes right down to it.
If that were the case, would we see a flip? Would we be supporting amnesty and all the rest? Maybe. Maybe not. It’s hard to say. But what isn’t hard to say is that one huge portion of the Republican/conservative platform is respect for the rule of law. So if we were to support such a thing, we would support it only through legislation – not executive orders that directly defy the will of Congress, and not amnesty that rewards people for breaking the law. That way lies madness, no matter how you feel about the poor plight of the Dreamers or anything else having to do with immigration. We must respect and enforce the law.
But hey, if Democrats want amnesty so badly, let’s see them take this idea under consideration. Something tells us they don’t want anything to do with it. Which tells you everything you need to know.
