According to a new poll from HarrisX, a majority of Americans think the FBI was politically biased in the two most explosive cases of 2016. An unprecedented series of events led to both presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, being involved in – if not targeted by – FBI investigations, and the public does not have faith that these investigations were carried out fairly and objectively. And with all the available evidence – the IG report, the Carter Page FISA applications, the House Intelligence report, the decision to clear Clinton – it would be a wonder if the results were otherwise. People on both sides of the political spectrum can see that these investigations were filled with shenanigans…whether they want to admit it or not.
According to the survey, 62% of registered voters believed that the FBI was biased in how they handled the investigation into Clinton’s private email server. 38% think the bias was in favor of the former secretary of state while 24% think the bias was against her.
On the other side, 59% of Americans think that the FBI has been biased in their dealings with Donald Trump. 38% think the bias has been against Trump while 21% think the FBI’s bias has favored the president.
We would actually love to speak to the imbecile who thinks that the FBI investigation into Trump/Russia collusion has been biased IN FAVOR of Donald Trump. We’re sure that’s not the only insane beliefs they have.
As for Hillary, it’s a little easier to see why her supporters would believe that the FBI was biased against her. They think former FBI Director James Comey was grandstanding when he stood up at that podium and accused her of “extreme carelessness” on the eve of the Democratic National Convention, and they will never forgive him for sending that letter to Congress in late October, reopening the case only two weeks before the election. Comey has maintained that he was only trying to preserve the integrity of the FBI, but we can understand why liberals would accuse him of putting his finger on the scales. Especially if they believe, as they do, that Clinton did nothing wrong. That’s an absurd position to take, but unfortunately not uncommon.
But with Trump, seriously? How could one look at the evidence and conclude that the FBI has been protecting him? They initiated this investigation on little more than the opposition research paid for by the Clinton campaign. They used the dossier to get a foreign surveillance warrant against an American citizen. They have prolonged this witch hunt for nearly two years while failing to come up with anything that resembles collusion. You can hate Trump with every fiber of your being; it doesn’t change the fact that this is the flimsiest, based-on-nothing investigation in the history of the Justice Department. And that’s before we even get into Peter Strzok.
In any case, these numbers show that the FBI has a lot of work to do if they ever want to restore the faith of the American public.
