Ohh, NOW we get it. See, all this time, we thought that when the Democrats said Robert Mueller was investigating the Trump campaign’s collusion with Russia, they meant it in reference to the 2016 election. But then, when former campaign chair Paul Manafort was charged with a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with the campaign, we were confused.
But now we see. This investigation is about finding out if any member of the Trump campaign has EVER “colluded” with Russia in any way, regardless of whether or not it had anything to do with 2016. Gotcha. See, we were just confused there for a little while. Now we understand that we may see people charged with bringing Kinder eggs into the U.S. back in the 1990s, people charged with selling bootleg “Ivan Drago wins” Rocky IV videocassettes in the 1980s, and perhaps even people charged with owning Russian porn back in the 1970s. Cool. Glad to see this is what we’re wasting our taxpayer money on.
We have to admit, we’re almost disappointed. The Democrats had built Mueller up into some kind of FBI Superman who was going to bring the entire Trump Dynasty crashing down in an ear-splitting roar of justice and fury. And then we get this? Paul Manafort being indicted on charges so old and complex that you could almost hear the air go out of the left’s collective balloon on Monday? If we were Mueller, we would have almost been embarrassed to make this our big, first indictment in the case. Hiding foreign payments back in 2012? Suspicious wire transfers related to Ukraine? Are you serious right now? We thought this was supposed to be about Trump and Putin conspiring to defeat Crooked Hillary! What is this garbage?
Didn’t Trump fire Manafort when all of this shady stuff came to light last summer? So then what does any of this have to do with anything?
The left is now pinning their hopes on the idea that Manafort will sing in exchange for a lighter sentence. Well, we suppose anything’s possible, but it really feels like Trump’s enemies are grasping at straws right about now. Anything to deflect from the increasingly-real and increasingly-disturbing implications of Hillary and Obama’s dealings with the Uranium One scandal, to say nothing of their attempt to use the federal government as a partisan agent of the campaign.
From the very beginning, Mueller (and before that, Comey) was just trying to stir up as must dust as possible so that the Democrats could hide this administration in a cloud of suspicion. If this is the best he’s got, then Trump has got nothing to worry about. In fact, Democrat voters should be asking some tough questions right about now. How much of what they’ve been insinuating about Trump all this time has been abject BS? How many lies have we heard? How far is the left willing to go to undermine and wreck this rightfully-elected president?
This is quickly turning into a national embarrassment.
