Don’t speak out against foolish resolutions meant to demonstrate how truly caring and woke the Village of Oak Park, Illinois is. Especially if you are just a white male, because we now live in an age where everyone who is a white man has to take a backseat to the opinions of any single minority, be they female, black, Eskimo, or other. It doesn’t matter how unhinged or irrational those opinions may be; simply the fact that they ARE the opinions of an “oppressed minority” automatically grants them unimpeachable status. You don’t want to be accused of mansplaining, do you?
(By the way, it hurts our hearts to see “mansplaining” make it past the Word spellcheck).
In any event, Trustee Susan Buchanan is vigilantly guarding the town from the rancid opinions of any white men who don’t agree with the town’s “equity, diversity, and inclusion statement.” That includes the opinions of fellow trustee Dan Moroney, who said Monday, at the board’s meeting, that the statement’s vow to “break down the systems of oppression” could pose a problem.
Moroney noted that some in the community had targeted the local police department as one such component of the “system of oppression” ruining Oak Park.
“I would hesitate to send the message to our police department that they are a system of oppression,” he said.
Moroney was backed up by another (WHITE MALE!) trustee, who said it was important to work out the language of the statement so the board didn’t accidentally endorse a message against law enforcement or some kind of statement against capitalism.
That’s when Buchanan lost it.
“I am so tired of hearing two white men tell us what systems of oppression are,” she said. “You have been white from birth. Why are you arguing what is a system of oppression? You’ve never experienced it, so shut up! I don’t want to hear from you! Just stop Dan, just stop Deno. You are not oppressed people and people in Oak Park are and we are trying to recognize that as a community.
“This mayor and this board is obviously not willing to face history. We have a chance to make history. It is time for this community to face equity. Enough!” she continued. “And you stop it! You are a white male! You stop it, you are a white male!”
For the first time, we’re really beginning to wonder if our great nation – hell, our entire civilization – is going to be all right. We’re watching literal insanity take root and spread like a virus throughout our culture. Do we even need to mention that Susan Buchanan is, herself, white? Has any race/culture in history ever embarked on this sort of suicide mission? What is the point? What is the endgame? Why are people like Susan so obsessed with letting everyone know how guilty and privileged they are? What GOOD does it do anyone?
Can anyone who isn’t suffering from mental illness answer these questions?
