Adil Sultan, originally of Pakistan, was caught by surprise when British authorities arrested him after a private pedophile hunting group ensnared him in their trap. Sultan had traveled from his home in Middlesborough to Sunderland, England to ostensibly have sex with a 14-year-old girl he met on the internet. The girl was a fiction invented by the group Guardians of the North, however, who placed him under citizens arrest and handed him over to police. Anyone in the States who remembers the old Dateline program “To Catch a Predator” will be familiar with the setup.
Sultan, however, was apparently surprised to learn that what he was doing was not legal in England.
Newcastle Crown Court later heard that the Pakistani national believed “it was okay” to have sex with a 14-year-old child, the Echo reports.
Sultan’s defence, Mohammed Rafiq, said his client “didn’t understand [that it was illegal]. Obviously, each country is different.”
When Judge Penny Moreland asked Mr. Rafiq to clarify that it was the fact that it was not okay to have sex with 14-year-olds that his client did not understand, the defence lawyer replied: “He did not understand that.”
Sentencing Sultan to 17 months’ imprisonment and to 10 years on the sex offender register, Judge Moreland told him: “You used a false name. You said you were 25 when in fact you are 39.
“Very quickly ‘Laura’ told you she was 14. Nonetheless, you went on to discuss having penetrative sexual activity with her.
“The conversation very quickly became sexual and you were asking for indecent images of herself.
“Your barrister tells me you thought it was OK to have sex with 14-year-olds. That is no excuse and offers you no mitigation.”
Obviously, pedophiles and dangerous deviants are going to be a part of Western society with or without Muslim migrants, but this episode casts a spotlight on the sharp cultural divisions separating countries like Britain from the immigrants flooding in. These differences have given way to dramatic spikes in violent, sexual crime – everything from rape to sexual battery to actual rings of sex slavery. And in Britain, Germany, and other countries suddenly besieged by these problems, political leaders are doing everything they can to shield their citizens from the truth.
Terrorism isn’t the only thing to fear when you throw the doors to your country wide open to every derelict who wants to make a new life for themselves. And while immigration as a rule may not be a “great evil,” it is high time that Western countries, including the United States, press the pause button until we can – as a wise man once said – figure out what the hell is going on.
