NBC: House Committee Wrong About Collusion (Cites Left-Wing Group)
We keep thinking there’s going to be this watershed moment where the American people finally rise up and demand accountability from the liberal media, but maybe we’re waiting for something that’s already in the midst of happening. Maybe the Trump election, if anything, was that moment personified. Maybe it’s a continual process that will only be clear when historians look back and can pinpoint – yeah, that’s when it started. Whether that’s the case or whether there will be some breakthrough moment in the future where people throw down the gauntlet and say, “ENOUGH,” it is a fact that the mainstream media is not done carrying water for the Democrat’s agenda just yet.
In fact, they’re worse than ever.
Just take NBC’s report over the weekend on the House Intelligence Committee’s conclusions on Russia. As you will recall, the committee found that there was no evidence of collusion between the president’s campaign and the Russian government actors that interfered in the election. And yes, NBC reports those conclusions. But that’s only to get to the point of the story, which is that others disagree. See if you can imagine them EVER writing a story like this using a right-wing think tank’s report as the basis for their article.
From NBC:
According to the Center for American Progress’s Moscow Project, the House committee charged with investigating Russian involvement in the 2016 election obtained either no or incomplete information about 81 percent of the known contacts between Trump officials and Russians, or groups and individuals with strong Russia ties like Wikileaks.
Those officials include former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who has pled guilty to lying to the FBI, and former campaign manager Paul Manafort, who has been indicted on an array of tax, financial, and bank fraud crimes and has worked on behalf on foreign entities aligned with Russia.
Mmm, 81% you say? Wow, that really sounds negligent on the part of House Republicans!
Except, when you take a look at the Moscow Project’s numbers, they don’t quite add up to the hysteria found in NBC’s article. Apparently, the network’s journalists had better things to do than to really look at what this partisan think tank was presenting them. 81% sounds like…there were hundreds of people that the committee completely failed to interview. Indeed, though, it was more like…10. And of those ten, the committee tried to interview four of them but were blocked by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
But what about the Project’s claims. Where does that 81% come from? Well, the Center for American Progress has tallied 70 known contacts between the Trump team and Russian officials. In 81% of those contacts, they claim, the committee failed to interview the relevant Trump associate.
Here, the report is even more deceptive. They count back-and-forth email exchanges on one day as four different “contacts,” for instance. Two people, one email chain, four messages, four “contacts.” This is a transparent attempt to make things sound worse than they are, and an attempt to make House Republicans look like they were sandbagging the investigation. In reality, the House interviewed the Trump principal in 30 of the 70 situations. In 39 of them, they were prevented from doing so by the Special Counsel’s Office.
NBC, though, wants to keep those ratings going. Keep those website hits coming in. Keep that Democrat enthusiasm high for the election. So they’re perfectly willing to publish abject left-wing propaganda, call it news, and wipe their hands clean of the whole mess.
This is why the mainstream media is dying. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but it is happening.
