New App Helps Trump Supporters Know Where They’re Welcome
The stories are everywhere. Members of the Trump administration getting harassed, yelled at, and thrown out of D.C.-area restaurants. Democrats calling on their constituents to be part of a public-shaming army. MAGA-hat wearing customers getting screamed at in vape shops, assaulted in Mexican restaurants, and turned away at the door at left-wing establishments. In such a toxic environment, Trump supporters may be wondering if there’s anywhere they can go, fly their MAGA flags, and still enjoy a meal in peace.
Well, there’s an app for that.
According to The Daily Beast, an app called “63red Safe” will provide users with a list of Trump-positive restaurants in their area where they can wear their MAGA gear without wondering if it’s going to get them kicked out or mobbed by Antifa nuts. The app really goes the whole nine yards, surveying the social media feeds of the restaurant owners and checking to see if guns are allowed inside the establishments.
“63red Safe works like a conservative Yelp,” reports The Daily Beast. “Instead of reviewing the lighting and ambiance, though, the site’s users rate restaurants and other businesses on a series of four questions, including whether the restaurant’s owners make political social-media posts and whether they allow customers to carry weapons.”
In an interview with The Daily Beast, app founder Scott Wallace said it was less about finding pro-Trump environments and more about finding places that were at least not outwardly hostile towards supporters of the president.
“I’m trying to position it as an everyday ‘where can I go eat safely’ app,” said Wallace. “Does this business serve persons of every political belief? Will this business protect its customers if they are attacked for political reasons? I believe that, between now and 2020, we’re going to see the rise of the socialist goon squad. I think Antifa was nothing compared [to] what’s coming in 2020. And I’m deeply concerned.”
If ever there was a doubt about that, the whole Covington Catholic debacle in Washington extinguished it entirely. For a day or two, it seemed that all of left-wing America was ready to declare the MAGA hat a hate symbol right alongside the KKK hood. And we’re sure, regardless of the truth of that situation having been corrected, there are still millions of aggrieved leftists who still feel that way. Our concern is that when they see that there are still restaurants that welcome Trump supporters, they’ll target those establishments with boycotts.
