Obama’s Skillful Ability to Avoid Confronting Islamic Terrorism
Few presidents in our nation’s history have been as skilled as Barack Obama when it comes to finding absurd scapegoats. Obama has taken deception to astonishing new heights. You almost have to grudgingly admire his audacity; the same way you might reluctantly admire a very clever con artist.
Well, actually, it’s exactly like that.
Over the last eight years, we’ve been treated to a smorgasbord of fascinating distractions, all of which have been used to take our focus off the real problem: Radical Islamic terrorism. Each new attack brings with it a new scapegoat. These scapegoats are no more the cause of these attacks than rubber cement or American cheese, but Obama’s smart enough to blame things that make a certain amount of sense if you don’t really know what you’re talking about. He wouldn’t get much support for blaming Kraft for a bloody massacre, but he can convince his followers to blame lax gun control policies.
He can convince them that it’s workplace violence.
That it’s a hate crime against the LGBT community.
That it’s a sign of too much joblessness in the Middle East.
That it’s compounded and perhaps even caused by Islamophobia.
That it’s because of a video on YouTube.
That’s it’s a hate crime against Hispanics.
And when all else fails, he can simply look off into the distance and say, “The truth is, we may never know…”
How he gets away with this is anyone’s guess, but it doesn’t hurt that America’s mainstream media accepts his scapegoating without the slightest critical analysis. They go out of their way to support his arguments, often saving the administration the hard labor of proving the unprovable. Astoundingly, many of these so-called defenders of free speech chose to condemn Charlie Hebdo and Pamela Geller right alongside the people who used violence to silence them. That’s how committed they are to carrying Obama’s water.
Last month, under withering criticism from Donald Trump, Obama assured us that there was no “magic” to the phrase “radical Islam.” Well, that’s true, but the problem isn’t that Obama won’t use that specific phrase. If he called it “extreme Islam” or “Islamism” or some other phrase, that would be fine. The problem is that he’s not even in the ballpark. He’s not even in the same zip code.
The media was aghast when Trump insinuated there was something nefarious behind Obama’s refusal to admit the truth about Islamic terrorism, but at this point, what else can one conclude? It goes without saying that Obama is incompetent…but he would have to be a drooling vegetable to get it wrong this many times. If he can dress himself in the morning, he can see what’s right in front of him. It’s not accidental negligence; it’s willful deception. So it’s no great sin to wonder why.
Does Trump have all the answers? Maybe. Maybe not. But he at least knows the questions, and that’s a big step forward from where we are now.
