Pelosi Confirms That “Every Crisis” is an Opportunity to Push Liberal Agenda
At a press conference on Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended her caucus’s $3 trillion stimulus bill, which is filled to the brim with leftist garbage that has exactly nothing to do with the coronavirus or the struggling economy. She told reporters that Democrats would be derelict in their duty if they did not use the pandemic to push their agenda on the American people.
“We have to open the economy, we have to do so in a way that gives more opportunity for access to care, to credit, to opportunity,” Pelosi said. “Just as Mr. Clyburn said, this is an opportunity. Every crisis is.”
Pelosi was of course referring to Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), who infamously said in March that the coronavirus was giving Democrats a “tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”
Ludicrously, Pelosi went on to deny that her HEROES bill was a pile of partisan dung.
“Nobody said that when Mitch McConnell put forth his bill – the CARES one,” she whined.
Yeah, no one ever criticizes Republicans. Tell us another one, Nancy.
In a report about the bill, Politico noted that there were even some Democrats with mixed feelings about the legislation they passed in the House.
“Privately, several House Democrats concede their latest bill feels like little more than an effort to appease the most liberal members of the caucus, many of whom were chafed that their most important priorities were minimized or ignored entirely in previous coronavirus negotiations,” reported the site.
Of course, a frank look at some of the provisions included in the HEROES Act shows that it would take a mighty adept liar to deny that this is a partisan bill through and through. Pelosi and her pals had a chance to show Americans that they are concerned, first and foremost, with getting people through the recession, supporting small businesses, and making sure that the economy has all the pieces in place for a fast bounce-back after the coronavirus is gone.
Instead, they stuffed the bill full of bailouts for blue states that were in financial trouble years before anyone ever heard of COVID-19. Instead, they shoveled nearly $2 billion towards black universities and minority-oriented service institutions. Instead, they mandated that every state make provisions to allow mail-in voting for all citizens.
Thanks to the coronavirus, Democrats had a golden opportunity to put away their socialist claws and their identity politics to do what’s right for the American people. Instead, they did this.
Don’t forget it.
