The woman who famously told her constituents that Congress would have to pass Obamacare to find out what’s in it still has no idea what’s actually in the Planned Parenthood videos. Even though House minority leader Nancy Pelosi is leading the charge to defend the embattled abortion provider against Republican attempts to strip their funding, she admitted to CNN’s Jake Tapper that she hasn’t watched the videos that sparked the debate.
“I don’t stipulate that these videos are real,” she said. “No I haven’t seen – I’ve seen some news reports of it, but I also know that some of it is not real and you can create any reality that you want.”
You can create any reality that you want. – Nancy Pelosi, 2015.
If the Democrats are looking for a new motto, that one might fit the bill. No wonder they’re so certain that the Center for Medical Progress videos are fake. This is a party accustomed to distorting reality.
“I think they should be investigated,” Pelosi went on to say. But don’t get your hopes up; she wasn’t talking about the abortionists. “As to how they obtained those and doctored those and had them be accepted as something that was an indictment against Planned Parenthood, because that’s not true.”
Right…but how can you say it’s not true if you haven’t even bothered to watch the tapes? Could it be that you don’t care if it’s true or not? Could it be that you’re committed to defending this national abortion mill regardless of what might be going on inside those pink walls? No, surely that’s not the case.
No matter how many times Planned Parenthood’s officials and defenders claim that no federal money is going toward abortion, it’s simply not true. You can play with the books to make it look like this is the case, but you would have to be utterly brain-dead to believe it. These videos may or may not prove that the organization is trafficking in baby parts, but they have definitely brought a much-needed spotlight back to the disturbing mass-murder going on in America.
The chances of Republicans successfully defunding Planned Parenthood are slim. Even if they shut down the government, they’re not going to get Obama to bend on this one. Abortion is a cornerstone Democrat cause, and Planned Parenthood puts a lot of money into the party. They’re going to stick this one out to the bitter end. There are conservatives in Congress willing to do the same, but the Republicans aren’t all on the same page. And with polls showing that the majority of Americans want to keep Planned Parenthood open, they simply don’t have the political capital to make this happen.
Major victories like this aren’t won overnight. What’s important is that we’re talking about abortion again. We’ve yanked the “women’s healthcare” shroud off the organization, exposing it for the murder mill that it is. In time, pro-life Americans may have cause to hope once again.
