Pelosi Throws a Fit After Senate Puts Her $3 Trillion Liberal Wishlist on Ice
There’s no world in this universe or any other where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi actually thought Mitch McConnell and the Republicans in the Senate were going to take her $3 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill seriously. Stuffed to the gills with left-wing pork that literally has nothing to do with the virus, this legislation was a waste of every staffer’s time that had the misfortune to work on it. We assume it was designed solely for the mainstream media’s headlines (Oh look, Democrats are trying to HELP while Republicans sit beside callously letting Americans starve), but come on: Even liberal reporters can’t sell this stuff. It’s a joke.
Nonetheless, Pelosi saw fit to throw a tantrum on Twitter when McConnell said there would be no vote on her insidious bill.
“Instead of holding a vote on The #HeroesAct, Senate Republicans are engaging in a clear act of political retribution designed to help the President keep his job,” Pelosi tweeted. “The Senate must stop playing along with the President’s dangerous tactics & take steps to save lives and livelihoods.”
How exactly are the Democrats saving lives by offering additional banking services to black-owned marijuana shops? How are they bringing us back from the brink of economic destruction by mandating easier green cards for migrants? And when you really look into the kind of stuff this bill proposes, those two ideas are actually among the MORE reasonable ideas.
McConnell had the perfect description of the ridiculous bill, telling reporters that it “reads like the Speaker of the House pasted together random ideas from her most liberal members and slapped the word ‘coronavirus’ on top of it.”
We’re pretty sure that’s exactly what happened.
Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana was even harsher in his take on the bill.
“I don’t think we are going to have a fifth bill,” Kennedy told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “I’m not at all sanguine about the prospects. Some of my colleagues disagree with me, but I think it’s way less than 50 percent.
“The reason is, I think Speaker Pelosi overplayed her hand,” he continued. “I mean her bill is so grandiose, it’s not a coronavirus bill. It’s basically a remake of Western civilization bill. And I think that the Republicans in the Senate were so shocked when they saw it that at this juncture she could take her bill and eliminate every other word, and cut the cost by 75 percent, and it still wouldn’t pass.”
Several prominent Democrats have gone on record saying that the pandemic provides them with a golden opportunity to push forward their extreme agenda. Turns out, it may not be quite the opportunity they were hoping for.
Thank goodness.
