Politics Before Security: Obama Administration Silencing Rumors of ISIS in Mexico
The watchdog group Judicial Watch has proven themselves to be an invaluable source of journalistic integrity for the American people, providing continual evidence of the sliminess of the Obama administration that the mainstream media is afraid to touch. According to a report they released last month, the American people are at a far greater threat from the terrorists known as the Islamic State than the administration is willing to admit. While the president calls this a Middle Eastern problem that could only grow into a national security threat if left unchecked, many of Judicial Watch’s sources say that this threat already exists.
Via Judicial Watch, we learned that ISIS is gathering strength not just in Iraq and Syria, but that they may be operating on the Mexican border, preparing to enter the country and deliver a devastating attack on American civilians. That these reports have some legitimacy is only strengthened by the fact that Democrats seem to be doing everything they can to silence the leaks.
Democrat Representative Beto O’Rourke has allegedly called the FBI offices in El Paso as well as the HSI and USBP offices, trying to find out who was responsible for talking to the watchdog organization. His investigation was reportedly followed by a memo sent out to agents in the region warning them that they could be fired and charged with a crime if they were found to have talked to the media.
In another time, these reports could be dismissed as too conspiratorial to accept, but this is not that time. The Obama administration has shown time and again their willingness to put politics before national security. Obama has made clear his wish to see millions of illegal immigrants granted amnesty, and his idea of immigration reform no doubt calls for loosening restrictions on who we let cross into the United States. If Americans believe that terrorists may be waiting to enter along with the Hispanics, his desire for a more open border will send the Democrats reeling.
Only a couple of weeks ago, Fox’s Greta Van Susteren said that administration officials pressured her to tighten the leash when it came to Benghazi inquiries. This alone demonstrates that Obama is willing to intimidate and pressure journalists into abandoning any serious investigations into his administration. It’s certainly no secret why. Every time a journalist gets too close, a scandal erupts. The man who promised to bring transparency back to the federal government has instead cloaked the White House in secrecy from the top down.
While Obama’s anti-American approach to governance is certainly cause for concern, the more immediate concern may be the very reports he’s trying to silence. If ISIS really is biding their time for an American attack, we could be in for a repeat of the terrorism that changed the nation in 2001. Obama has done everything in his power to roll back the clock on those changes, taking advantage of a war-weary public to cut military funds and push his own agenda. If it turns out that he made the country less safe in the meantime, it could be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
