Rush Limbaugh: Democrats Will “Wreck the Economy” to Win in November
On his radio show Tuesday, conservative legend Rush Limbaugh said that the Democrat leaders of blue states like New York, California, and Massachusetts were going to extend their lockdowns throughout the summer and do everything in their power to “wreck the economy,” knowing they can coast on the profits and production coming out of reopening red states. Limbaugh said that Democrats were determined to tank the economy ahead of the November election and then put the blame for the recession squarely on President Donald Trump.
“All these blue state governors that want to keep their states locked down, it’s purely political. But what are they depending on? They’re depending on the red states — the red states that are opening up! The red states are gonna get the economy kickstarted,” Limbaugh explained.
The red states are gonna create capital and money to transfer to pay these people their stupid welfare costs (and whatever else they’re using to bleed this country dry), while their population sits home, doesn’t work, waits for the federal check to show up — and they sit around and they trash the supposedly reckless red states. I cannot tell you how this irritates me,” he continued.
Limbaugh said it’s all part of a master political plan to kick Trump out of office.
“The American left and the Democrat Party is going to do its best to keep this economy shut down, to extend and expand that shutdown — and blow up their own country’s jobs — just to ensure that Trump loses,” he said. “They’re gonna wreck the economy. Their objective is to wreck the economy and get rid of Trump.”
As Limbaugh later noted, it is an act of tremendous cynicism for Democrats to actually think this is going to work. The American people are not as stupid as the Democratic Party would like to believe. They see what’s going on. And when the red states get back to work without seeing a major, deadly spike in coronavirus cases, they are also going to see that the blue states were crying, “The sky is falling” without due cause. If there is a long-term recession after that, they will know where to place the blame.
They will also know, from the lessons of the Obama administration, that entrusting an economic recovery to the Democrats is a mistake. That’s not to say that the economy didn’t recover under Obama, but it could have climbed a hell of a lot faster. It was only after Trump came into office that we saw real growth. Why would we throw that away so that Joe Biden can keep us mired in sludge for the next four years?
Trump didn’t cause the coronavirus, and he didn’t cause the shutdown. To then blame him for the poor decisions of people like Gretchen Whitmer and Gavin Newsom is a political gambit that just isn’t going to work.
Hopefully.
