The shortest-lived member of the Trump administration, Anthony Scaramucci, is now a full-fledged NeverTrump Republican, and he said this week that he and his pro-Biden allies have a big October surprise waiting for the president. In an interview with Fox 11 in Los Angeles, the former White House communications director said that we will soon see “a deluge of ex-officials in the Trump Administration speaking out about his lack of fitness to be President of the United States.”
We can only imagine how devastating it will be for Trump when people like Sally Yates and James Comey tell us that we should cast a vote for Joe Biden. Gee, dare we dream that Scaramucci has secured the testimony of H.R. McMaster? How will Trump ever come back from this “deluge”?
“I do think some of those people will come out publicly,” Scaramucci said, referring to the anonymous officials who told The Atlantic that Trump had disparaged fallen soldiers. “I have spoken to some of those people that were sources in that story, and I believe those people.”
Sure you have, Mooch.
Scaramucci told the new outlet that the unnamed Atlantic sources, along with a bevy of other excommunicated Trump officials, were just “waiting to time the news cycle properly” so that their revelations about the president will have the most impact possible.
Looking ahead, Scaramucci said that those unnamed sources, as well as other ex-White House officials, are “waiting to time the news cycle properly,” waiting so that their assertions can have the biggest impact in a news cycle that moves so quickly.
Well, we’re sure that just like The Atlantic story, the media will eat it up no matter when these fruitcakes come out of the woodwork. Just like they ate up the Michael Wolff book. And the Bob Woodward book. And the one written by John Bolton. And the one written by Trump’s niece. And we’re sure they’ll tout these people’s testimony as Very Important, just like they did when Jim Mattis resigned. Just like they did when 6,798 former national security people came out to criticize Trump. Just like they did when John Kasich appeared at the DNC.
We’re not sure how many so-called Republicans have to come out forcefully against Trump before the media realizes that no one gives a damn. And if this is the best Biden can do for an “October Surprise,” he’d better hope he’s already well ahead in the polls by the time we turn the calendar.
