Democrats are still out there telling everyone who will listen that the Trump tax reform plan is some Machiavellian scheme to steal money from the middle class and hand it to the country’s rich and powerful, but their rhetoric flies in the face of every news story in the business sector. Put simply – and regardless of what their CEOs might have said in some badly-worded poll a few months back – corporate America is passing the buck, literally, to their employees. A whole lot of people are going to see a whole lot of money over the next couple of years, and we have a feeling we’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg.
So far, we’ve already seen giant companies like Apple, Comcast, American Airlines, and Walmart share the wealth, so to speak, even though many of these companies have been stalwart enemies of the Trump administration and everything it presumptively stands for. Just goes to show what we’ve said all along: Whether you love Trump with all of your heart or despise him with every fiber of your being, your economic life is likely to improve with him as president. It almost makes us a little sour to see so many members of the so-called “Resistance” benefit from Trump’s presidency, but we like to think we’re above such pettiness. Well, on our better days we are, anyway!
In any event, the hits just keep on coming. Starbucks announced this week that they would use some of the savings generated by the tax plan to hand out a slew of pay raises, expanded benefits, and shared company stock with their employees. All combined, the coffee chain is giving more than $250 million to its existing employees.
“Investing in our partners has long been our strategy, and due to the recent changes in U.S. tax law, we are able to accelerate some significant partner investments,” Chief Executive Kevin Johnson told employees on Wednesday.
The Democrats can try to tell Americans that they got screwed over as they run for their midterm seats this November, but we’re not sure their propaganda is going to convince many voters to ignore what they’re seeing in their own paychecks. They can try to run against a booming economy, though. In fact, we wholeheartedly encourage them to do so.
Terrific economy = BAD! Illegal Immigrants = GOOD! Vote Democrat!
Well, good luck with all of that.
