Terrorists Expose Our Kindness As Weakness
The twin attacks that left more than thirty innocent people dead in Brussels, Belgium should be the beginning of a new conversation about Muslim immigrants, cultural integration, and political correctness. The attacks, which were coordinated by the Islamic State, have exposed Western tolerance for the weakness that it really is. In Brussels – as in London and other Western cities – Muslim neighborhoods have become secretive enclaves that shelter terrorists from the police. And because our governments are more concerned about protecting the good name of Islam than they are about stopping terrorism, this situation is allowed to continue.
Even though they put the blame on Belgium’s failure to welcome Muslims into their community, even leftists understand that we have a big problem on our hands. You can’t let hostile ethnicities/religions take over entire sections of your city, wall themselves away from civilized society, and expect that it won’t have dire ramifications. The question now is what we’re going to do about it.
If you listen to the liberals, the answer lies in more outreach to the Muslim community. Apparently, the relentless olive branches offered by Obama, Angela Merkel, and other Western leaders have not been enough. Muslims won’t stop killing us until we do more. How much more? Oh, making a few edits to the Constitution in accordance with the prescriptions of Mohammad should be sufficient. Ditto any other society with the temerity to cherish freedom.
They see the rhetoric of Donald Trump and other Republicans as turning us in the wrong direction. Sure, Muslim countries have not really taken the lead when it comes to defeating ISIS. Sure, polls show that many Muslims in Europe sympathize with terrorists to some extent. True, these Islamists will use any excuse to attack, from drawings to work arguments to “just cuz.” But Trump is going to make them even angrier! Oh no.
“We are paying for our naïveté,” Jacques Myard, a French parliamentarian, told the New York Times. “It’s not a weakness in intelligence. It’s a weakness in society.”
That’s exactly right. While this attack was indeed a damning comment on Belgium intelligence services, it is more importantly a deadly reminder of how complicit liberals have been in furthering this bloodshed. Under the guise of “peacemaking,” they have willfully ignored the religious roots of this problem. Until they wake up, acknowledge what’s really going on here, and stop worrying about hurt feelings, this is going to keep happening.
