Texas Church Hero: If Bloomberg Had His Way, More Would Have Died
Shortly after the tragedy that unfolded at a church shooting in Texas last month – a tragedy that was largely cut short due to the heroic actions of the armed-and-trained parishioner Jack Wilson – presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg dismissed the incident as an aberration that would not factor into his feelings about extreme gun control.
Asked about Wilson’s actions, Bloomberg said, “Yes, it may be true — I wasn’t there and I don’t know the facts — that somebody in the congregation had their own gun and killed the person who murdered two other people. But it’s the job of law enforcement to have guns and to decide when to shoot. You just do not want the average citizen carrying a gun in a crowded place.”
In an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday, Wilson said that if people like Bloomberg had their way, the scene inside his church would have been far deadlier.
“Mr. Bloomberg, had we operated by his standards or his wishes, the carnage would have been significantly greater because the individual still had, after the shooting, still had seven live rounds in his gun and three more in his pocket,” Wilson said. “Even though the police department did arrive in roughly two minutes from the time the first call went in, by that time, you know, the carnage would have been much, much worse.”
Wilson said he was disturbed by the hypocrisy coming from gun advocates who never have to worry themselves about being protected in case of a violent outbreak.
“They are trying to take away all of our rights to own firearms, and if they — you know, they’re chipping away at that all the time,” Wilson said. “If Mr. Bloomberg would have his security detail turn their arms in and not guard him, he would be in the same situation as many American citizens are every day.”
That’s a point that’s been made countless times by gun advocates, but it’s an argument that never grows stale. It’s always these elite-level Democrats who want to take away our ability to defend ourselves and our families. If they don’t all have a full-time security detail, they certainly enjoy the privileges and safety that comes from living in gated communities and well-guarded high-rises. It’s the same privilege that allows them to forcefully call out to every illegal alien south of the border; those aliens won’t be moving into their communities or depressing their wages, so what do they care?
Not sure when the average Democratic voter is going to wake up and realize that these people DO NOT represent them, but the day can’t come soon enough.
