The Left Views MAGA Hats as Equivalent to KKK Hoods
In a sea of shameful, fake news, it’s hard to get really up in arms and disgusted anymore with any of it. After a while, you just lose your ability to be surprised by their deceptive bias and their blatant hatred for anyone to the right of Joe Manchin. Or at least that’s what we thought. But even the shameful, deceptive, biased media still has the capability of surprising us, apparently, because what they did to a group of students from Covington Catholic High School this weekend was nothing less than despicable.
Maybe we shouldn’t have been surprised, given what this very same media did to Brett Kavanaugh last year. But damn, this was disgusting. This was reprehensible. This was the “enemy of the people” with their masks fully off.
We’re sure you know the story, or at least the story as it was framed by the media. A group of boys from a Catholic school in Kentucky had attended the March of Life in Washington (a march that would have otherwise gone completely ignored by the mainstream press, by the way). While they were waiting for their bus in front of the Lincoln Memorial, a group of MAGA-hat wearing hooligans from the school noticed Native American Vietnam vet Nathan Phillips playing his drum in honor of the Indigenous People’s March, which was happening simultaneous to the other one. These horrible white boys got up in Phillips’ face, mocked his drumming, and chanted “Build the Wall” while the proud Native banged his drum and stood stoically in the face of white terror.
The Washington Post reported it as such:
Phillips, who was singing the American Indian Movement song that serves as a ceremony to send the spirits home, said he noticed tensions beginning to escalate when the teens and other apparent participants from the nearby March for Life rally began taunting the dispersing indigenous crowd.
A few people in the March for Life crowd began to chant “Build that wall, build that wall,” he said.
“It was getting ugly, and I was thinking: ‘I’ve got to find myself an exit out of this situation and finish my song at the Lincoln Memorial,’ ” Phillips recalled. “I started going that way, and that guy in the hat stood in my way and we were at an impasse. He just blocked my way and wouldn’t allow me to retreat.”
So, a few comments. One, despite plenty of video coverage of this situation, no one has yet (as of Sunday) turned up any videos that have “Build the Wall” audio in them. And even if they did, it wouldn’t necessarily mean that the teens were chanting that phrase AT the Indians. Two, perhaps Phillips isn’t familiar with what the word “retreat” actually means, but it certainly doesn’t mean heading towards the aggressor. Three, that IS what Phillips did, which is verified by other, less-reported, less-viral videos of the situation.
So the real story here is that this Indian stuck his nose where it didn’t belong because he didn’t appreciate seeing a group of white boys wearing red MAGA hats. He initiated a staredown. He engineered this entire incident. HE should be the one being shamed online, NOT the students.
And guess what? This is not the first time he’s put himself in this kind of situation.
“In 2015, Phillips was verbally attacked by a group of Eastern Michigan University students who were dressed as Native Americans during a theme party near the town of Ypsilanti, according to news reports,” wrote the Washington Post. “Phillips had approached the group, informing them that their celebration was racially offensive, a local Fox News station reported. One of the students threw a beer can at him, Phillips told the news outlet.”
Yep, that’s what happens when you go sticking your nose in where it doesn’t belong. Apparently Phillips didn’t learn his lesson, and after the media onslaught that occurred this weekend, it’s unlikely that he’s any closer to learning it now. Too bad.
This sick episode of media witch-huntery occurred solely because the left views these Make America Great Again hats as the modern equivalent of the KKK hood. So whether you’re minding your own business at the Lincoln Memorial or trying to make a purchase at your local vape shop, they will automatically brand you a Nazi for supporting the President of the United States.
Here’s hoping these kids make it through this without permanent educational consequences, but we’re not optimistic. Once the left’s mob frenzy gets started, the dominoes usually fall pretty fast.
