Thousands Gather to Cheer on Trump at Florida Rally
In a welcome reminder that there are still many Americans thrilled to have Donald Trump in the White House, thousands of exuberant supporters showed up to a rally in Melbourne, FL on Saturday to cheer on the new president of the United States.
It was the first campaign rally of the 2020 election, and it proved that the endless onslaught of negative news coverage has had little effect on the Americans who put Trump into office on November 8th. And in a freewheeling speech that hearkened back to the rallies that rocked the political world last year, Trump wasted no time in criticizing the mainstream media.
“They have their own agenda, and their agenda is not your agenda,” he said. “I want to speak to you without the filter of the fake news.”
Trump noted that he was not the first U.S. president to have issues with the mainstream press.
“Thomas Jefferson said, ‘Nothing can be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle,’” Trump quoted.
“They could not defeat us in the general election,” he continued. “We will continue to win, win, win. We’re not going to let the fake news tell us what to do and how to live. We will make our own choices.”
Throughout the speech, Trump reiterated his campaign promises and assured the crowd that his administration was quickly living up to those vows. He touched on jobs, Islamic terrorism, illegal immigration, Obamacare, and environmental regulations, generally sounding nothing like the supposedly-embattled president the news media has made him out to be for the past month.
“The American nation remains the greatest symbol of freedom and justice on the face of God’s earth,” he said. “Now we have our sacred duty to defend our country and to serve its great cities. We have the chance to deliver change for the ages.”
That change is already in progress, and the Democrat/Media alliance can only delay the inevitable. Perhaps they’ll eventually come around and turn Trump into the great political unifier of our time. Perhaps they’ll just dig their heels into the ground and fight him every step of the way. Either way, liberal Americans will benefit from Trump’s presidency just the same as his conservative supporters. Even if they never come out of their shell of misery long enough to notice it.
