Trump Blames Paul Ryan for Failure to Investigate Democrats
In an interview with Breitbart News this week, President Donald Trump had some less-than-kind things to say about former House Speaker Paul Ryan, whose relationship with the candidate-turned-president has taken several twists and turns over the year. Trump blamed Trump for blocking House investigators who wanted to subpoena individuals and organizations on the left, leaving many of the GOP’s political enemies unchecked for their violations and possible criminal activities. Now, with House control having been turned over to the Democrats, President Trump fears that many people Ryan protected will never have their wrongdoing exposed by Congress.
In the interview, Trump praised Freedom Caucus leaders Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows, saying they wanted to pursue investigatory leads that Ryan urged them to leave alone.
“Paul Ryan wouldn’t give the right to have any subpoenas,” Trump told Breitbart. “Okay? Now in all fairness, Meadows and Jordan and all these guys, they wanted to go tougher, but they weren’t allowed to by leadership.”
Trump made the remarks at a portion of the interview in which he was discussing the relative “viciousness” of the right vs. the left.
“Here’s the thing, it’s so terrible what’s happening,” Trump said. “The left plays a tougher game, it’s very funny. I actually think that the people on the right are tougher, but they don’t play it tougher. I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump – I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough — until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad.
“But the left plays it cuter and tougher,” he continued. “Like with all the nonsense that they do in Congress with all these investigations – you know, they do things that are nasty. Republicans never played this.”
Well, we definitely agree with Trump there. The left has been out for absolute blood since the 2016 election, and the difference between how hard Republicans are fighting versus how hard the Democrats are fighting back – it’s almost like night and day. Democrats are right now where Republicans were in the tea party era. Just ready to go out there and shut down the country if it meant saving this nation from the confiscatory legislation Obama was getting ready to pass. And it worked. We moved mountains. It was that movement that ultimately led to Trump. The problem is, Republicans sat up there in full control of the federal government…and wasted two years.
This isn’t a Trump problem, this is a failure of the GOP on Capitol Hill to recognize what their voters are demanding. And if they don’t wake up to it soon, they are going to get clobbered in 2020, no matter what kind of socialist fiend the Democrats throw at the wall.
