Trump Campaign: “Democrats Have Left Israel Behind”
One day after the far-left group MoveOn.org pressured 2020 Democrats to skip this year’s annual AIPAC conference, virtually every single one of the most prominent candidates announced that they would do just that.
For a party that is already suffering from allegations of anti-Semitism, it was a shock to the system to see Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, Beto O’Rourke, and other high-profile presidential candidates cave to the progressive wing of the party. Apparently they feel that it is more important to take a stand for their in-house Muslim radicals than it is to prove their respect for American Jews and one of this country’s strongest allies.
In an op-ed for Fox News, Trump campaign press secretary Kayleigh McEnany slammed the Democrats for embracing far-left, anti-Semitic radicalism in their own ranks.
From the op-ed:
The boycott of the AIPAC conference this year by Democratic presidential contenders is little more than a pathetic effort to cater to an extreme left base hostile to Israel.
But the AIPAC boycott should not be viewed in isolation. It comes at a time when Democratic presidential contenders have been largely silent in the face of anti-Semitic comments from Democratic elected officials.
Indeed, it was little more than two weeks ago that House Democrats failed to rebuke Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., for her blatantly anti-Semitic slur alleging that supporters of Israel have dual loyalties, along with her false claim that the only reason politicians support Israel is because they want big campaign contributions from Jews.
[…]
Democrats have left Israel behind; they have left Jewish Americans behind. Radicalism and hostility to Israel have overtaken a party obsessed with taking back power at the expense of all that is right and just.
Maybe this turn of events was inevitable. It seems that the Democratic Party always ends up embracing the worst aspects of the leftist base. For that reason, their boycott of AIPAC is a lesson that goes far beyond the party’s stance on Israel, their disturbing cozy relationship with Islamists, or their tolerance of anti-Semitism. Indeed, this is on par with their vote last month to block a bill that would keep infant babies from dying on the operating table. It is on par with their embrace of astoundingly ignorant legislation that would end U.S. transportation as we know it. It is right up there with their continued commitment to prevent this administration from doing ONE THING to protect our borders.
Democrats in the leadership like to pretend there is daylight between their policies and the ones espoused by the most progressive members of the party. And maybe for today, there is. But where the most extreme Democrats go, eventually the whole party goes. That is, after all, the definition of progressivism. Always pushing the envelope a little further. Don’t ever forget it.
