If anyone was hoping that Donald Trump’s departure from the presidency would convince the mainstream media to recalibrate their commitment to journalistic ethics, it didn’t take long for those hopes to be dashed. One day after Joe Biden took the oath of office, CNN let fly with a beauty of a story from reporter MJ Lee, who supposedly spoke with an insider in the fledgling Biden administration about the vaccine distribution plan.
From the story:
But in the immediate hours following Biden being sworn into office on Wednesday, sources with direct knowledge of the new administration’s Covid-related work told CNN one of the biggest shocks that the Biden team had to digest during the transition period was what they saw as a complete lack of a vaccine distribution strategy under former President Donald Trump, even weeks after multiple vaccines were approved for use in the United States.
“There is nothing for us to rework. We are going to have to build everything from scratch,” one source said.
Another source described the moment that it became clear the Biden administration would have to essentially start from “square one” because there simply was no plan as: “Wow, just further affirmation of complete incompetence.”
This shocking story was almost immediately debunked by media darling Anthony Fauci, who said during a press conference: “We certainly are not starting from scratch because there is activity going on in the distribution. But if you look at the plan that the president has put forth about the things that he’s going to do, mainly get community vaccine centers up, get pharmacies more involved, where appropriate get the Defense Production Act involved not only, perhaps, with getting more vaccine, but even the things you need to get a good vaccine program, for example needles and syringes. So it’s taking what’s gone on, but amplifying it in a big way.”
Lee reported on Fauci’s rejection of his fake news story, but he referred to the immunologist as a “Trump holdover” in the tweet, telling you everything you need to know about how uptight these reporters get when called out on their nonsense.
By the way, we didn’t actually need Fauci to debunk the CNN story; the fact that 15 million Americans have already been vaccinated is more than enough evidence to prove that Trump did indeed have a distribution program. These purveyors of fake news are so desperate to make a name for themselves and get clicks, they don’t even bother running their stories through a common-sense check, much less a fact check.
