Trump: Mueller’s Investigation Only Good at Nabbing “Bloggers From Moscow”
In an interview with CBS News on the day of the Super Bowl, President Trump laid bare some of his most vicious sentiments yet about the useless witch hunt that goes by the name The Mueller Investigation.
In the interview, the president said that even though Mueller has managed to nail down a great many indictments, none of them had anything whatsoever to do with him or Russian collusion. As such, he refused to commit to making the special counsel’s final report available to the public.
“Of the 34 people [that Mueller has indicted], many of them were bloggers from Moscow or they were people that had nothing to do with me, had nothing to do with what they’re talking about or there were people that got caught telling a fib or telling a lie,” he said. “I think it’s a terrible thing that’s happened to this country because this investigation is a witch hunt.”
Trump has said a great many derogatory things about the Russia investigation over the past two years, but few of them summed up the problem as efficiently as this statement. Because guess what? He’s absolutely right. We can debate that Mueller is holed up with a band of “13 Angry Democrats” or if he’s secretly working for the left in an attempt to seek revenge for James Comey. A lot of that comes down to speculation about Mueller’s character.
What isn’t up for speculation is the nature of the indictments themselves, and Trump hit the nail on the head. Not one single individual in Trump’s orbit has been indicted for anything CLOSE to the kind of collusion the Democrats have been talking about. Not a one. Paul Manafort’s charges didn’t even have a thing to do with the 2016 election! Michael Cohen’s charges stem from nonsense about a porn star. Roger Stone and George Papadopoulos did not even, as far as we can see, commit any crimes at all other than lying to Congress/federal agents. Crimes that were created by the investigation itself!
And then, yeah. A whole slew of Russian bloggers.
Great job, Mr. Mueller. Definitely worth the $30 million and counting.
“So far this thing’s been a total witch hunt. And it doesn’t implicate me in any way,” Trump said. “There was no collusion. There was no obstruction. There was no nothing. Doesn’t implicate me in any way but I think it’s a disgrace.”
That it is. It damn sure is.
