Trump to Fox & Friends: The FBI’s Top Officials “Were Crooked”
President Trump has a lot of respect for “Fox & Friends,” but he rarely calls into the program. He changed things up on Thursday morning, however, because he needed to get some things off his chest about the corruption that ate up the top brass of the FBI during the Obama administration. Sick of watching the sanctimonious James Comey sell his book without being subjected to anything close to skeptical criticism from the liberal media, Trump told the hosts that the former FBI director was a leaker, a liar, and deserved to be charged with those crimes by the Justice Department.
“Our Justice Department should be looking at that kind of stuff, not the nonsense of collusion with Russia,” the president said. “There is no collusion with me and Russia and everyone knows that.”
Trump said that Comey’s leak of classified memos to the media spurred the appointment of the special counsel, which threw Robert Mueller’s investigation into the chasm of illegitimacy.
“He leaked classified information to get a special counsel and leaked the memos which are classified – the memos were about me and he didn’t write those memos accurately,” Trump said. “He wrote a lot of phony stuff. He is guilty of crimes.”
President Trump was careful to separate his disdain for the corrupt officials at the top of the Bureau from his respect for the men and women of federal law enforcement.
“I love the FBI and the FBI loves me,” he said. “But the top people at the FBI were crooked. You look at the corruption at the top of the FBI – it’s a disgrace. And our Justice Department, which I try to stay away from, but at some point I won’t.”
On this point, Trump elaborated, saying that he’d long decided to stay out of Mueller’s investigation because it touches on the question of his campaign’s association with the Russian meddling. However, he said there was only so much he would stand by and idly watch this circus proceed.
“I’ve taken the position – and I don’t have to take this position and maybe I’ll change – that I will not be involved with the Justice Department,” he said. “I will wait until this is over. It’s all lies and it’s a horrible thing that’s going on, because of the fact that they have this witch hunt going on with people in the Justice Department that shouldn’t be there. They have a witch hunt against the President of the United States going on.”
The interview has liberal nervously chirping again about the possibility that Trump might do the OMG UNTHINKABLE and fire Mueller. Well, he just laid it out for you: If Mueller continues down the current path – a path that has nothing to do with Russia and everything to do with taking this White House down by any means necessary – then he’ll do just that.
And he’ll be fully justified.
