In a couple of tweets on Monday, President Donald Trump confirmed that he was giving his authorization and consent to Emily Murphy of the General Services Administration to begin the delayed transition process that will transfer power to Joe Biden in January. However, Trump noted, this does not mean that he is giving up the fight to overturn the election results and expose the fraud that he believes was integral to allowing Biden to get to 270.
“Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good fight, and I believe we will prevail!” he wrote. “Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same.”
Trump condemned those who have “harassed, threatened, and abused” Murphy for putting a hold on the transition, suggesting that it is out of compassion for her that he is signing off on the process. He sent out these messages shortly after Murphy announced in a letter that her decision to move forward with the transition had come independently of the White House.
“I was never directly or indirectly pressured by any Executive Branch official – including those who work at the White House or GSA – with regard to the substance or timing of my decision,” she wrote. “I did however receive threats online, by phone, and by mail directed at my safety, my family, my staff, and even my pets in an effort to coerce me into making this determination prematurely.”
Yeah, well, that’s liberals for you.
The Biden/Harris team celebrated the move. “Today’s decision is a needed step to begin tackling the challenges facing our nation, including getting the pandemic under control and our economy back on track,” said the team’s transition director, Yohannes Abraham.
Up until now, the Biden team had been (hilariously) trying to get the money needed for transition through crowdfunding efforts. We assume that money will be returned to donors now that Biden has access to millions via the GSA. Although, if anyone was actually dumb enough to give Biden money to jumpstart his own transition, we won’t shed any tears if that cash is gone for good. Consider it a lesson of the “fool and his money” variety.
