Voter ID Now One of the Thousand Excuses for Hillary’s Loss
If you’re really interested in reading more than 400 pages of excuses from Hillary Clinton, her new book, “What Happened?” was released this week. In it, she covers territory both old and new in her attempt to place the blame for her 2016 loss on anyone and everyone other than herself. Even in those small portions of the book where she admits to making some campaign mistakes, she fails to understand that it wasn’t what she did or didn’t do that cost her the race – it was HER.
In any case, Clinton added to the growing total of scapegoats by throwing “voter suppression” into the mix. Voter suppression, as you may have realized, is the new Democratic Party buzzword for Voter ID laws. Because as we all know, Democrat voters have some sort of problem getting a driver’s license or any other form of government ID. It has something to do with racism, but we’re still not quite sure we understand.
“The Supreme Court under Chief Justice John Roberts opened the floodgates by gutting the Voting Rights Act in 2013. When I was in the Senate, we voted to reauthorize the law 98 to 0 and President George W. Bush signed it,” Clinton writes. “But Justice Roberts essentially argued that racism was a thing of the past, and therefore the country no longer needed key protections of the Voting Rights Act.”
As a result of that decision, the door was opened for many states to enact Voter ID laws, ensuring that our elections were held with integrity. This is apparently a big problem for Democrats like Hillary. Not because they depend on fraudulent voters, though. No, no. Not at all. NOT AT ALL. No, it’s just that blacks and other minorities don’t have ID. Why that is, no one has really explained.
But while we’re on the subject, let’s really talk about this. Let’s say the Democrats are right and that Voter ID laws do somehow hurt the left’s turnout because it affects their base in some kind of strange way. Does it really matter? Put another way: Do we really WANT people who are so removed from productive society that they don’t even have an ID voting in our national elections? It’s probably racist or something to ask such a question, but then again, what ISN’T racist these days…?
We do know this: Democrats are gung-ho about two things simultaneously: Increased rights for illegal immigrants and the abolition of Voter ID laws.
But we’re sure one has nothing to do with the other.
